Hey everybody, welcome back to Shaped by Dog. I am Susan Garrett. And do you know anybody who is thinking about getting a new puppy or a dog? Maybe you're thinking of getting a new puppy or a new dog. In today's episode, I'm going to share with you how you could save money when getting a new puppy or a new dog. Hundreds, maybe thousands of dollars. I bet you didn't think that was possible. I'm here to tell you it is. And I'm going to share with you five great ways you can do just that. First of all, I want to remind you, and if this is your first dog, this is a really important podcast for you. Because you need to know that owning a dog is mostly an investment of time. It is a massive investment of your time. I don't want to scare you off from getting a dog, but it is a time investment. And it's not just the things that you think are obvious. Yeah, now I know Susan, I'm going to have to walk the dog. I'm going to have to feed the dog. I've budgeted, you know, 20 minutes in my day for that. You see, dogs like to be part of our family. They like that engagement. As opposed to like a cat who maybe tolerates you being part of their family. Dogs need that from us. They need that social engagement. You know, maybe a plant or a goldfish is better if you don't really have the time to train and engage daily with your dog. And the nice thing about this time investment is it pays massive dividends back for you. So, of course you need to feed them and you need to walk them. Not just once a day though. They should be walked two or three times a day, ideally for a total of an hour, maybe even more. I mean, my dogs get walked two hours a day. So, the study on longevity that they've shown that it isn't the type of dog food that dogs get fed. It isn't the breed of dog that makes a difference. But it is what they have found is dogs who get more exercise live longer. So, there's a good reason to get out there in the rain or shine or snow if you're up here in Canada and walk that dog. So, it definitely is a time investment. Number two, obviously it's a financial investment, but people think, oh yeah, I bought this purebred dog. I paid a lot of money money and that's it. That's just the tip of the iceberg, right? So, the things that you need to invest in, obviously the accessories that you're going to be needing like a collar, leash, etc. There's, and we'll talk a little bit more about what that list looks like. You need to invest in the investment could save you money right up front. So, we'll talk about that in a minute.

그런 충동구매는 결국 나중에 여러분과 그 강아지 모두에게 큰 비용을 치르게 할 수 있습니다. 그러니 시간을 갖고 충분히 조사하세요. 여러분과 가족, 그리고 라이프스타일에 어떤 개가 잘 맞을지 연구해 보세요. 개들은 각기 다른 이유로 길러져 왔으니까요. 어떤 개들은 경비를 위해 길러지는데, 여러분은 '아 맞다, 내가 딱 원하는 게 그거야, 날 지켜줄 개가 필요해'라고 생각할지도 모르죠. 하지만 집에 장전된 총을 두는 것과 마찬가지로, 보호를 위해 길러진 개를 키우는 데는 위험이 따릅니다. 왜냐하면 만약 그 본능이 잘못된 방향으로 흐르게 되면 소송으로 이어질 수 있고, 그건 강아지 탓이 아니니까요, 그렇죠? 보호 목적으로 길러진 개를 입양할 때는 각별히 주의해야 한다는 점을 알아야 합니다. 그 개들도 훌륭한 반려견이 될 수 있지만, 보호 본능을 훈련하고 다스리는 데 많은 지식과 시간 투자가 필요합니다. 마찬가지로 저는 보더 콜리를 키우는데요. 그들은 양을 몰도록 길러졌죠. 만약 어린아이들이 있다면 강아지 시절에 물릴 수도 있어요. 강아지 시절에는 여러분도 물릴 수 있고요. 저는 보더 콜리를 정말 좋아해요. 제 삶을 상상할 수 없을 정도죠. 저는 보더 콜리를 정말 좋아해요. 그들이 없는 제 삶은 상상할 수 없어요. 그들 없는 삶은 상상할 수 없죠. 하지만 제가 추천하는 방법이 있습니다. 대부분의 사람들이 그렇고, 저도 마찬가지였지만, 외모에 끌려서 그 견종을 선택하게 되죠. 제가 처음 사랑에 빠진 견종은 차우차우였습니다. 구글에 검색해 봐야 합니다. 이제는 구글 박사가 있잖아요. 차우차우의 가장 나쁜 특징이 무엇인지 검색해 보세요. 아마도 가장 잘 무는 견종 목록 상위에 올라와 있을 겁니다. 그러니 알아야 할 것들이 많죠. 그 견종의 가장 나쁜 점들을 구글에 검색해 보고, 그것을 어떻게 예방할 수 있을지 고민해 보세요. 어떤 개가 우리 가족에게 가장 적합할지 결정할 때, 현실을 직시하고 신중하게 접근하세요. 물론, 유기견 입양에 대한 생각을 배제하고 싶지는 않습니다. 사실 그게 제가 가장 권장하는 첫 번째 방법입니다. 경제적으로 접근하기가 훨씬 쉽고 많은 사람들이 감당할 수 있기 때문이죠. 뿐만 아니라 생명을 구하는 일이기도 하고요. 많은 유기견들이 나쁜 개여서 유기된 것이 아닙니다. 사람들이 사전에 충분한 조사를 하지 않았기 때문에 유기된 것이죠. 아니면 개가 버릇없이 자라서 집안을 마음대로 휘젓고 다니게 되었고, 이제는 그 개가 가족의 일부가 되어야 한다는 것을 이해하고 이 동물에게 시간을 투자할 사람이 필요한 경우입니다. 좋아요. 개는 금붕어가 아닙니다. 그냥 무시해 버릴 수 있는 존재가 아니죠. 그러니 준비를 하세요. 충동구매는 하지 마세요. 그리고 제발 한 번에 두 마리를 사지 마세요. 그렇게 하면 안 되는 이유는 아주 많습니다. 무엇보다 개는 사회적 동물이라서 주인보다 서로에게 훨씬 더 빨리
I want to encourage you, please, please, please don't impulse buy. You might be at a, like at a farmer's market and see a box of cute little puppies. That impulse buy may end up costing both you and that dog down the road. So, take your time and do your research. Research what kind of dog would be great for you and your family, your lifestyle. Because dogs have been bred for different reasons. Some dogs are bred to guard and you might think, oh yeah, that's what I want. I want a dog who's going to protect me. But just like having a loaded gun in your house, there's a danger to having a dog who's been bred to protect. Because if that gets misdirected, that ends up being a lawsuit and it's not the dog's fault, right? You need to be well aware when you're going in that dogs that have been bred to protect. They could be great family pets, but they require a lot of knowledge and a lot of investment of your time training and directing that drive to protect. Likewise, like I have border collies. They've been bred to herd. If you have little kids, they may end up getting nipped as puppies. You might end up getting nipped when you have these guys as puppies. I love border collies. I can't imagine my life without them. But here's what I recommend you do. Most people, and I was the same way, got attracted to the breed by the look. My first love was a chow chow. You need to Google. We've got Dr. Google now. What are the worst traits of a chow chow? You may find they're on the top lists of dogs who bite. So, there's a lot of things you need to know. Google the worst of the dog, and then how would I prevent that? And go in with your eyes open what dog you may be deciding would be best for your family. Now, of course, I don't want to eliminate the thought of rescue dog. That would be my number one thing to encourage you because it's a entry point financially that most people can afford. And not only that, you're saving a life. And a lot of rescue dogs aren't in rescue because they're bad dogs. They're in rescue because the people didn't do the research ahead of time. Or the dogs got spoiled and got the run of the house and now just need somebody who understands they need to invest in this animal because it is somebody that needs to be part of your family. All right. They can't, they aren't goldfishes. They just can't be ignored. So, be prepared. Don't impulse buy. And please don't buy two dogs at one time. There's a number of reasons why you shouldn't do that. Most of all, they're social creatures and they bond to each other far faster

유대감을 형성하기 때문입니다. 그래서 훈련이 두 배로 어려워지죠. 많은 사람들이 아, 저는 그럴 준비가 됐어요라고 말하지만, 결국 후회하게 됩니다. 특히 같은 배에서 태어난 새끼들을 입양했을 때는 더더욱 그렇죠. 고양이는 어떠냐고요? 달라요. 고양이는 한배에서 태어난 새끼 두 마리를 사도 괜찮습니다. 하지만 개는요? 한배에서 태어난 강아지 두 마리를 입양하는 건 정말 잘못된 일입니다. 저도 여러 마리의 개를 키웁니다. 개를 여러 마리 키우지 말라는 뜻이 아닙니다. 하지만 두 번째나 세 번째, 혹은 제 경우처럼 다섯 번째 개를 입양할 때는 올바른 이유로 선택하세요. 신중하게 접근하세요. 제 개들은 세 살입니다. 나이 차이가 납니다. 어떤 개들은 4살 차이가 나기도 하죠. 그래서 저는 두 번째 반려견을 데려오기로 결정하는 과정이 어떤 것인지 잘 이해하고 있습니다. 그리고 저는 첫 번째 반려견의 말동무를 해주려고 새 반려견을 데려오는 것이 아닙니다. 그건 주인의 역할이죠. 교감이 중요하니까요. 그러니 만약 이번이 두 번째 반려견이라면 첫 번째 반려견을 데려올 때만큼, 아니 어쩌면 더 많은 고민을 하세요. 첫 번째는 충동구매였을 수도 있으니까요. 자, 이제 재정적인 투자에 대해 이야기해 봅시다. 좋은 브리더에게서 분양받을 생각이라면 당연히 분양가가 발생합니다. 좋은 브리더는 비용이 더 많이 드는데, 좋은 번식을 위해서는 많은 과정이 필요하기 때문입니다. 부모견뿐만 아니라 부모견의 형제자매들에 대한 건강 검진도 포함되죠. 혈통을 파악하고 그 이전의 개들이 얼마나 건강했는지 아는 것도 중요합니다. 물론 이것이 건강을 보장한다는 의미는 아니지만, 비전문적인 번식가나 강아지 공장에서 데려온다면 건강 문제가 발생할 확률이 훨씬 높아집니다. 그건 가슴 아픈 일일 뿐만 아니라 비용도 많이 들게 하죠. 물론 구조 단체를 통해 입양한다면 여러분이 원하는 견종을 충분히 찾을 수도 있습니다. 견종이 중요하다면 말이죠. 특정 견종을 위한 구조 협회들이 많고, 그곳에는 사랑이 필요한 개들이 정말 많거든요. 나이 든 개를 입양해보세요. 세상에, 그 안에는 정말 큰 기쁨이 있답니다. 따라서 구조 협회를 이용한다면 반려견 구입 비용은 큰 부담이 되지 않을 수 있습니다. 그것 역시 고려해야 할 재정적인 투자이긴 하지만, 비용을 절약할 수 있는 부분이기도 합니다. 용품 준비도 마찬가지입니다. 꼭 필요한 물건들은 있지만, 돈을 많이 쓸 필요는 없습니다. 페이스북 마켓플레이스나 차고 세일, 중고 장터, 중고 가게를 찾아볼 수 있으니까요. 저도 새 물건들을 중고 가게에 기부한 적이 있거든요. 그러니 이동장 같은 물건들을 사는 것도 방법이죠. 그렇습니다. 생각보다 비용을 아낄 방법은 많습니다. 새로운 강아지를 위해 앞으로 한 달 정도 맞을 만한 크기의 크레이트를 사세요. 그리고 나중에 중고 가게에 팔거나 업그레이드할 수 있습니다. 성견이 되었을 때의 크기에 맞춰 크레이트를 사지 마세요.
than they're going to bond to you. And it makes training doubly difficult. So many people will say, Oh, I'm prepared for that. And then they end up regretting it, especially when it's littermates. You know what? Cats? Different. Buy two littermates. Dogs? Absolutely the wrong thing to do to buy two littermates. I have multiple dogs. I'm not saying don't have multiple dogs, but get the second dog or the third, or in my case, the fifth dog for the right reasons. Go in there. My dogs are three years apart in age. Some of them are four years apart in age. So, I am, I understand what goes into making the decision to bring in that second dog. And I'm not bringing in another dog just to keep the first one company. That's your job. Engagement, right? So, if this is your second dog, do as much thought as you did putting into the first dog and maybe even more because maybe that was an impulse buy. Okay. So, let's talk about the investment financially. There's obviously the purchase price if you are going to buy from a good breeder. A good breeder is going to cost more money because there's a lot involved in doing good breeding. Health checks of not just the parents, but the parents' littermates. Knowing the lineage, the dogs behind, how healthy were those dogs. It doesn't mean there's any guarantees for you, but if you go to a backyard breeder or a puppy mill, then there's a higher probability that you're going to have a health challenge with the dog. And it's going to be heartbreaking. And it's also going to cost you money. Of course, when you, when you buy from a rescue, you could very well get the breed you want if that's something that's important to you, because there's a lot of association breeds that have rescue associations that these are dogs who need love. Like adopt a senior dog. Oh my gosh. There's so much joy in that. So, the purchase price of the dog doesn't have to be formidable if you go to a rescue association, but that is a consideration. That is a financial investment, but that's a place that you could save money. Accessorizing. There are things you absolutely need to have, but you don't need to spend a lot of money because you could do things like look at Facebook marketplace, garage sales, yard sales, thrift shops. I've donated brand new items to thrift shops. So, things like buying a crate for your new puppy, please buy one that is going to fit the puppy maybe in the next month. And then you can trade it in at the thrift shop or an upgrade. Don't buy a crate the size of your adult dog,

크레이트가 너무 크면 강아지가 '아, 이쪽 끝에서 쉬를 하고, 저쪽 끝에서 변을 보고 잠을 자야지'라고 생각할 수 있기 때문입니다. 그런 일은 원치 않으시겠죠. 그러니, 강아지 몸집에 맞는 적절한 크기를 구매하세요. 그래서 크레이트가 필요하며, 저는 아마 다음 팟캐스트에서 강아지가 처음 집에 온 날을 무사히 보내기 위해 무엇을 해야 하는지 자세히 다룰 예정입니다. 강아지가 첫날부터 적응을 잘해서 밤에 푹 자고, 무엇보다 중요하게는, 보호자분께서도 방해받지 않고 밤에 푹 주무실 수 있도록 말이죠. 이 모든 내용은 다음 에피소드에서 다루겠지만, 이런 물품들은 미리 사두셔야 합니다. 지금부터 찾기 시작해서 돈을 절약하세요. 아직 조사를 시작하는 단계라 강아지를 바로 데려올 계획이 없을 수도 있지만, 엑스펜(X-pen)은 꼭 준비하세요. 강아지가 머물 수 있는 이 울타리는 집안의 피해를 극적으로 줄여주고, 발생할 수 있는 행동 문제를 크게 최소화해 줍니다. 그러니 엑스펜, 당연히 리드줄과 목줄, 그리고 스테인리스 그릇도 필요하겠죠. 저는 강아지에게 밥을 줄 때 좋은 품질의 스테인리스 그릇을 사용하는 것을 강력히 추천합니다. 예쁘다고 해서 무조건 플라스틱 제품을 선택하지 마세요. 플라스틱 제품은 강아지가 씹어 먹으면 독성이 있을 수 있습니다. 또한 중고 가게나 1달러 숍에서 돈을 아끼려 하지 마세요. 1달러 숍에서 판매하는 많은 물건은 신뢰할 수 없는 출처에서 온 것들이라 심지어 납이 함유되어 있기도 합니다. 1달러 숍의 일부 강아지 장난감에서 실제로 납이 검출된 사례도 있습니다. 그러니 그곳은 쇼핑하기 좋은 장소가 아닙니다. 준비를 철저히 하셔야 합니다. 울타리가 있는 뒤뜰. 유기견 보호소에서 입양하는 경우, 많은 곳에서 울타리가 있는 뒤뜰을 요구합니다. 저는 30년 넘게, 아니 30년 이상 개를 키워왔지만 울타리가 있는 뒤뜰은 한 번도 가져본 적이 없다고 말할 수 있습니다. 저에게 그건 어떤 의미일까요? 강아지 시절에는 평생 매일 목줄을 하고 밖으로 나간다는 뜻입니다. 그리고 저는 항상 아이들과 함께 나갑니다. 그렇게 하면 배변 상태가 어떤지, 묽은지 확인하여 문제가 있는지 알 수 있습니다. 그래서 저는 나름의 가치가 있다고 봅니다. 이건 다시 말해 유대감을 쌓는 시간입니다. 아마도 아, 개랑 같이 나가고 싶지 않아라고 생각할 수도 있겠지만, 강아지를 처음 키울 때는 무조건 같이 나가야 합니다. 뒤뜰에 나갈 때도 여전히 목줄을 하고 나가는 것을 권장합니다. 이에 대해서는 다음 에피소드에서 강아지를 집에 데려왔을 때 무엇을 해야 하는지 다룰 때 이야기할 것입니다. 하지만 제가 드리고 싶은 말씀은, 울타리가 있는 뒤뜰이 꼭 필수인 것은 아니라는 점입니다. 단, 첫 1년 동안은 목줄을 하고
because that dog may have a crate that's so big they decide, Oh, I'm going to do my tinkling in, uh, pooping at this end of the crate and I'll sleep at that end of the crate. You don't want that. So, buy one that's the appropriate size of, of the puppy. So, you need crate, um, and I'll go into detail maybe in an upcoming podcast of, of what we do on that first day to make sure that first day, that puppy hits the ground running, gets a full night of sleep and equally important, make sure you get a full night of sleep without getting interrupted. So, all of that we'll cover in an upcoming episode, but you need to buy all these things ahead of time, save money by start looking now. You may not be in the market for a new puppy because you're just starting your research, but get an X-pen. That is a pen that your puppy can be in is going to dramatically minimize damage to your house, dramatically minimize behavior problems that are going to start. So, X-pen, obviously you're going to need a leash and collar, some stainless steel bowls. I highly recommend good quality stainless steel to feed your dogs out of. Don't just go with the pretty ones because they're the plastic ones that are pretty. A lot of times they, those could be toxic if the dog eats them. Also, don't save money by going to a thrift or by going to a dollar store. A lot of things that you buy in a dollar store comes from less than reputable sources that end up even having lead in them. It's, it's been shown that some of the dog toys at dollar stores actually contain lead. So, not, not a good place to do your, your shopping. So, you want to be prepared. Fenced in backyard. If you're getting from a rescue, a lot of them insist on a fenced in backyard. I can say I've owned dogs for 30, more than 30 years, and I've never had a fenced in backyard. What does that look like to me? It means when my dogs are puppies, they go out on a leash every day of their life. And I go out with them. It allows me to see what their business looks like, if it's runny, if they're having a problem. So, I see some real value. It's bonding time again. You might want to say, oh, I don't want to go out with my dog. But again, starting with a puppy, you should be going out in that, if you're going out in the backyard, I still recommend you go out on leash. We'll talk about that in the upcoming episode about what to do when your puppy comes home. But I'm just saying, a fenced in backyard isn't necessarily a must unless you make that commitment to going out with

개와 함께 계속 밖으로 나가겠다는 약속을 하신다면 말이죠. 좋습니다. 구매 비용과 용품, 사료에 대해 다뤘습니다. 네, 개에게 먹이를 줘야 합니다. 이 부분에서 비용을 아껴서는 안 됩니다. 저는 생식을 급여합니다. 모든 분께 생식을 강력히 추천합니다. 생식에 관해서는 공포감을 조장하는 말들이 많습니다. 이 또한 다른 에피소드에서 전문가를 모시고 이유를 설명해 드리겠습니다. 저는 생식이 수명 연장에 도움이 된다는 점을 매우 좋아합니다. 물론 생식을 먹일 때는 주변을 잘 청소해야 한다는 주의가 필요합니다. 하지만 그거 아세요? 생식 급여에 위험이 있다고 말하는 사람들은, 반려견에게 생식을 먹일 때 살모넬라균의 위험이 있다고 말합니다. 하지만 저처럼 채식주의자가 아니라서 집에서 닭고기를 요리하신다면, 사실 개에게 주는 생식보다 식료품점에서 산 닭고기에서 훨씬 높거나 비슷한 위험이 존재합니다. 그러니 비용을 아끼지 마세요. 왜냐하면 개에게 먹이는 사료비를 아끼겠다고 저렴한 대형 마트 브랜드 사료를 선택한다면, 결국 건강 문제가 생길 겁니다. 사료값은 조금 아낄 수 있을지 몰라도, 더 큰 동물병원 비용을 감당하게 될 테니까요. 그러니 제 말을 믿고 정말 좋은 품질의 사료를 먹이세요. 동물병원 비용도 절약할 방법이 있습니다. 그렇다고 동네에서 가장 싼 동물병원을 가는 것은 답이 아닙니다. 왜냐하면 가장 싼 병원이 최고의 병원인 경우는 드물기 때문이죠. 알겠죠? 조사해 보고 좋은 수의사를 찾으세요. 그 부분에서는 비용을 아끼려 하지 마세요. 하지만 동물병원 비용을 줄이는 방법은 있습니다. 피할 수 없는 병원비가 있고, 피할 수 있는 병원비가 있거든요. 피할 수 없는 건 강아지가 갑자기 바이러스에 걸려 아픈 것 같은 상황이죠. 어쩔 수 없는 일들이 있잖아요, 그죠? 피할 수 있는 병원비란 강아지가 차에 치이거나, 초콜릿을 먹었거나, 쓰레기통을 뒤졌거나, 아니면 강아지끼리 싸움이 붙는 경우입니다. 물론 리드줄을 하고 산책하는데 다른 사나운 개가 갑자기 달려드는 건 피할 수 없겠죠. 하지만 우리 강아지가 먼저 싸움을 건다면 그건 피할 수 있는 겁니다. 그러니까 피할 수 있는 병원비는 좋은 품질의 반려견 훈련에 시간과 비용을 충분히 투자함으로써 예방할 수 있습니다. 그리고 이건 지금 당장 실천할 수 있는 일이죠. 이 팟캐스트를 듣고 있다면, 이미 시작하신 겁니다, 맞죠? 이곳의 모든 팟캐스트를 들어보세요. 제 블로그 dogsthat.com에도 방문해 보세요. ‘Dogs that’입니다. 달리는 개들, 웃는 개들을 생각하세요. a dog on leash all the time, especially for that first year. Okay. We've covered the purchase price, accessorizing food. Yes, we have to feed the dog. It is not a place to cut corners. I feed raw. I strongly recommend everybody feeds raw. There's a lot of scaremongering out there about feeding raw. Again, another episode, I'll bring in an expert. I'll tell you why. You know, I love the fact that you get increased longevity. And yes, you have to be careful when you feed raw that you clean up the area. But guess what? The people telling you that there's a risk, you know, there is a risk of salmonella from feeding your dog raw food. But if you're feeding chicken, unless you're a vegan like me, you're bringing chicken into your house, there's actually an equally or a higher risk from grocery store chicken than there is from the raw dog food that you feed your dog. So, don't cut corners. Because if you cut the corners on what you feed your dog and going to some cheap big box brand dog food, you will end up having health problems. You might have lower food problems, but you'll have higher veterinarian bills. So, trust me when I say really good quality dog food. Veterinary bills, there is a way you can cut those as well. And it's not by going to the cheapest vet in town because the cheapest vet in town is rarely the best vet in town. All right. Do your research, find a good veterinarian, don't cut corners there. But here's how to cut corners with veterinary bills. There are unavoidable veterinary bills and there are avoidable veterinary bills. The unavoidable ones are things like the puppy just catches a virus and gets sick. I mean, stuff happens, right? The avoidable veterinary bills are your dog got hit by a car. Your dog ingested some chocolate or got into the garbage or your dog got into a dog fight. Now, it's unavoidable if you're walking your dog on leash and some dog thug comes and jumps you. It is avoidable if yours is the dog that goes and initiates the fight. So, the avoidable veterinary bills, you can avoid them by really investing your time and money in good quality dog training. And you can get a product like our program, homeschool the dog for under $200 or recolors for under $500. You might say, $500? I don't have $500. Save it. Save your money because that will be the greatest payback of an investment you will make in all of the financial investments you have to make when you get yourself a dog. All right. So, training is not an area you cut corners. Food is not an area you cut corners. Going to the cheapest veterinarian in town is not an area that you cut corners. You're accessorizing. They don't need 55 leashes and they don't need clothes. Now, if you have like a dog that has thin skin, they're going to need a coat. But a lot of those things you can get used guys. And you just have to start looking now. Up here in Canada, we have something called Kijiji, a Craigslist in the US. Wherever it is local, you can buy a thrift shop. Those are areas that you can cut costs. Every dog deserves to live a life of enrichment. A dog where they're loved. A life where they're made to feel important and loved. Enrichment means you spending time with them. And when you train the way that we do in reinforcement-based game-based training, every moment you spend training that dog is a moment you are spent investing in a relationship. And we all know what that does. The more you invest in a relationship, the more it grows. Because relationships are never static. They're either getting better or they're going down the toilet. And when a dog is not engaged, when they do not have a life of purpose, they start to find their own life of purpose. Which might mean aggressing at dogs in the window, or aggressing at the mailman, or neurotically chewing up your furniture. They will find a life of purpose of their own. But when you invest the time and you engage in the dog and you help create the best life ever, a life of freedom where they're allowed to make choices, that is an investment that will pay you dividends that I can't even begin to tell you how great they are.
