Hello, my name is Ed Frawley. My wife and I own Learbird and this is a good question that came in to our Ask Cindy portal. Once again, you don't need to be a customer of Learbird to ask us a question and I don't know any other website on the internet where you can write in and ask a question to a professional dog trainer that's going to give you an answer without having to do business with them almost within 24 hours. Cindy answers these every morning. So it's halfway down the front page, Ask Cindy of Learbird.com. This is a question that came in from a very nice lady that has a problem with her dog being too reactive to other dogs and to people and she spent four thousand dollars on a boarding train with an alleged professional dog trainer who when he was done handed her a remote collar and said there's your solution your dog is fixed. I'm usually pretty sympathetic to professional dog trainers. There's a need for them but there are also dog trainers that call themselves professional that are not ethical. This happens to be one of them. You're not going to see where this came from with this woman and she had numerous conversations with Cindy was she wanted to know if she bought the courses on Learbird. I did a course a year or two ago. It's 20 hours long dealing with dominant aggressive dogs. The last thing you're going to do, the last thing any reputable dog trainer is going to do, is tell you to put a remote collar on a dog and stimulate it every time that it that it shows some kind of reactivity being a growling, being it going to the end of the leash and barking, trying to bite somebody. You put a remote collar on that dog and you're just going to make it worse because he's already upset about something, could be genetic, it could be whatever, and you're going to now stimulate him with a remote collar? That's just plain stupid. It's dumb and if you have a problem with the dog that has reactivity issues that is not the way to solve it. And I'm not here in this video to tell you that my 20-hour video is going to tell you how to solve reactivity. One thing it's going to do is it's going to teach you a whole hell of a lot about reactive dogs. It's going to give you some ideas on things that you can do, but this lady asked Cindy, well do you 100% guarantee that the work you're going to show in your online courses is going to solve my problem? And the answer is no, we're not. It's not gonna, it won't happen. We can't guarantee that. We don't know the dog, we don't know what he's reactive to, we don't know the level of training, we don't know if this person is strong

enough, if the dog needs some kind of pressure, that they can put the pressure in that's required when it's required and it's not required right off the bat. But there's a lot of things in there that are going to teach you how to manage a dog that has reactivity. And with some dogs that may be all you're going to get for the life of that dog. You're going to have to change the way you live with the dog. So we talk about that in the course, at least the course that I did on dealing with dominant aggressive dogs. But to put a dog that's reactive with a guy that's you've already spent four thousand dollars with and he hands you a remote caller and say, now your problem solved. No. It's too bad. I really feel sad for this woman because she was a nice lady and she just wanted to do what's best for her dog to learn how to live with it. So just be careful on how you pick a dog trainer to do business with.
