루시는 Rue Collars와 Homeschool the Dog 소속입니다.
Hey everybody, who is out there? Who's out there with me today? Please type in the comments. Let me know where you're from. Let me know if you're a member of one of our online classrooms. That would be interesting. And I am going to ask you the question of the day. And to me, it was interesting to see the topic of today's live. Would it be something that people would see value in? If I had done a topic of how I teach my most favorite tricks, I know that a lot of people would have tuned in. Step by step on how to teach my most favorite tricks. You know what? Maybe someday I'll do that. But I wondered if the understanding of the importance of your emotions in dog training would be as appealing to people. Because it sure as heck should be. It really, really should be. Okay, so I've got a question for you. Sounds like somebody just fell upstairs. This doesn't have to be exclusively about dog training. I want you to brainstorm with me what are some of the most important traits of a great coach. And make sure to tell me where you're from, too. We've got Denmark. We've got Recaller, Wag Nation. We've got to be a teacher. We've got to be a teacher. We've got to be a teacher. Or a coaching style. Something that is important in a really, really good coach. Jan, who's in Handling360, Agility Nation, pedicure, please. From the UK. Patience. Patience is one. Realistic expectations. My trainer knows how to pace each one of my girls. Hi from BC, Amy. Hi from Ontario, Amy. Hello from Switzerland. So, sitting from Davis, California. I used to spend a lot of time in Davis. Back when I taught in person a lot. Thank you for your kind words about our videos. I'm going to share that with the team. Because it's a team. It's a group effort here at DogZat. Okay. Characteristic. No judgment and kindness. Calm. Confidence. Compassion. Consistency. Hi, Ruthie. Ruthie's in Rue Collars and Homeschool the Dog. And little known fact, Ruthie and I started our dog training journey at the same place at the same time back in 1988. Well, I think Ruthie may have started a little bit before me. Genuine care for people. And if they're coaching dogs, a genuine care for dogs. Inspirational. You know what would be great if somebody on the team was writing some of these down. And then you can send them back to me at the end. Because this is going to be important at the end. Inspirational. Great observational skills. Kindness. And, you know, you can put all of these together. And you can say, well, there can be great coaches that, I mean, there's been a lot of great coaches in college football. And that no one would ever call them kind.

But does that mean they couldn't be better if they were kind? Unfailing encouragement. Positive attitude. Great coach knows how to push you out of your comfort zone in order to make you feel better. Oh, Amanda, that's a great one. So, I mean, some, a great coach knows how to get people out of their comfort zone. Some people are good with pushing me. Yeah, you can push me. You can challenge me. And I'm like, I have seven brothers. So I'm all in on that one. But there are some people that you can't push them out of their comfort zone. But you can create a picture of a comfort zone that makes them excited about trying to be there. Some people, they can't be pushed. And that's what, you know, a great coach needs to know that as well. If they're coaching in dog training, ability to train dogs using a variety of techniques. Maybe that they've had experience with a variety of techniques. But I think I don't think I necessarily use a variety of techniques. I think I've tried. I've experienced a lot of them. And a lot of them I've just discarded along the way. Working great with humans and dog. And the dog, yeah, working with the dog and the human in front of them. That's for sure. I personally think a sense of humor is really an awesome characteristic of a great coach. But it's definitely not, you know, necessary. I've known some great, great coaches that I wouldn't say were particularly had a great sense of humor. But it certainly helps if they do. Empathetic. A great coach should be adaptive to the individual challenges. I've been lucky to have known some. Like I've had some great coaches of my own. And through some professional athletes that I know I've been introduced to some great coaches as well. Which is really interesting to listen to them talk. And all this is going to, it's all going to circle back to help each and every one of you that are watching this. But I want to keep this going on what makes a great coach. And I'll tell you where I'm going with this very, very quickly. Positive kind of ability to explain exercises, knowledge, does continuing education. Understands progress over perfection. Absolutely. Patient has been brought up a number of times. Kindness and joyful. Motivates and encourages greater achievements. You know, a great coach, I think, can see greatness in us when sometimes we can't see it. But they allow us to believe in them before we can believe in ourselves. I mean, those are ethical trainer. I love that one. Because it's not about the outcome. It's about the process, right?

And if you're working with somebody who has great understanding, you're going to get amazing outcomes and have a great process. A calm energy. I think the energy that is needed by the person they're coaching, right? So if you were coaching me, calm energy is a really good thing. But if you were coaching somebody who needs a little bit more from, then the ability to light fires is really good too. Adaptable. Absolutely. That's a great word. So a lot of great traits. And you guys can keep them coming. All of the above with a lump of love. Great communication skills. Oh my gosh. That's a biggie. That's a biggie. Doesn't matter how much you know as a coach. If you cannot communicate what you know in a way that is tangible and inspiring, then you're not going to help the person go to the next level. Now, why am I talking about what makes a great coach? Because one of the things that's so important for you to have success in dog training is you have to pick the right coach for you. And I don't know if it was mentioned here. This is a really good one, Amy. Amy pointed out a great coach is always learning. They don't have a posture of knowing it all. A great coach is so curious. They're curious about what they're seeing in their athlete or their student that they're coaching. They're curious about what more is possible. So all of these amazing traits. What brought this to me is I have seen more often than not, like every one of us have got two coaches at least. So if you're going to a class, that instructor is a coach. Some of you, you have a spouse who is a coach. Some of you hang out in groups of people who train their dogs together. So you might have four or five extra coaches. But every single person has at least one coach. And if you're in a class, you have two. And one of your coaches, I would say probably is missing 90% of these things that you just said. Not always, not in all people. But for many people, those characteristics are missing. And why do I say that? Because I hear people say things like, why am I always such a loser with my dog? Why am I so stupid? How can I not stay connected? How can I never stay connected with my dog in agility? Why is it that every dog I train makes the same stupid mistake? I hear these self-deprecating statements. I heard them at the U.S. Open last week. I hear it from my own students, my online students. How do I, why do I always fill in the blank? Why can I never fill in the blank? Why, how can I be so fill in the blank? Klutzy, stupid, clumsy, fill in the blank. You are coaching yourself. Always. Your self-talk.

Imagine if you were coaching a student and they were competing in agility or they were in your pet dog training class and they were very frustrated and you, they walked by you and you said, how can you always mess this up so badly? How can you be so stupid? When are you ever going to get this? If that is how you coached that person, they would know enough to never come back, wouldn't they? If you were helping a friend with their dog and they were new to this and you were trying to help them with the mechanics, because we all know mechanics are about, you know, the limit of your mechanics is how far your dog will go. If you were coaching your friend and you said things like that, like, are you really that stupid? Are you really that thick that you don't know what you're doing here? It would probably end your friendship. So why is it that as human beings, we understand to never allow somebody else to speak to us that way? And we understand as an empathetic human with, we would never speak to our friends that way. Why is it that we can't extend that same grace to ourselves? Because you are the closest person to you who is helping you with your dog training. But yet your conversations that you have with yourself is sabotaging your dog training. Because here's how self-talk works. If you ask yourself a question, your brain will search and search. And when you say things like, why am I so stupid? It's like you're typing into Google. Why am I so stupid? Google will come up with 20,000 pages of reasons why you're so stupid. When you ask yourself, why can I never seem to get this? Your brain will start Googling. Remember when you were 12 and you didn't pay attention in math class? That's probably why you're not getting these angles now in agility. That's probably it. Right? So this is a really important thing. I don't care if you're trying to train your family dog just to be a better dog. The dog is not going to have success if they're being coached by somebody who's been browbeaten by their coach. Did you follow that string? So if you're trying to coach your dog and you're being coached by somebody who's nasty and mean and judgmental of you, then you're limiting what your dog is able to do. And that nasty and mean and judgmental person is often you. And sometimes you say it and you don't even realize it. Sometimes you say it under your breath. Sometimes you say it like you stub your toe. How can I be so clumsy? Does this make sense? Have you guys ever thought about yourself as your number one coach? Because until we can get you dialed in, then nothing I can teach you is going to help you.

오래전에 스티븐 스틸스가 쓴 'Love the One You're With'라는 노래가 있었죠.
Because I'm going to be fighting against that coach that's sitting on your shoulder talking in your ear. So I want you to think about that while I give away some prizes. So the first prize I'm going to give away, and I would love you to share your thoughts in the comments. Have you ever considered it in this way? Have you ever considered that what you say to yourself is limiting your dog's ability to learn? Have you ever considered that? Okay. So we are going to give away a For My Merle's tug toy, and it is going to Dana Waters. That it was from our yesterday. That was our share. Yeah, that was our share winner. And we are giving away a gem winner. This is to Charlene Lapente. And Charlene, you are winning a, oh, a restore topper. Yes, that's what you're winning. I love these things. I love my tug toys too. Okay, here's a gem. There was a song long ago written by Stephen Steele's Love the One You're With. Maybe you remember the line, if you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with. Now I know it's not written about dogs, but it could be. Susan always reminds us to not compare our dogs to our past dogs or to her dogs, but to love and embrace the dogs we currently have. I try to remember that every day, and I love all the wonderful things about my current dog. And I look at all that the days and years ahead hold for both of us. It sure makes my relationship better because of it. Love the one you're with. Some people, when they watch the video, oops, I put up a video or my team put up a video of this and the progress my three-year-old dog this and I have made. And some of the comments were, oh, but see, my dog has the same struggles, but I'm not Susan Garrett. So I'm never going to be able to get there with my dog. But that's you comparing yourself to the wrong gap. You should be comparing yourself to you and your dog yesterday. Is it possible for you to make life better for your dog tomorrow than it was today? It is. And you just start adding up all of those little incremental changes. And before you know it, you have massive change. So it's all about creating a better today through, well, I think everybody should be training in games, layered games that bring joy into your dog's life. All right. So congratulations to our winners. And I'm going to take this opportunity right now to say we're going to give away another, let's give away, ooh, a Shaped by Dog coffee mug. I didn't ask if I have permission to do this, but I'm going to give away a Shaped by Dog coffee mug. These things keep coffee hot. How long was it, Chelsea?

For My Merles 분들께 감사드려요.
You said your coffee was hot when you, yeah, all day long, six hours. She's like, it's still, it's still hot for me. So I'm going to give away one of these and thanks to the people from For My Merles. They don't just do dog toys. I love this thing. This is a little rubber sleeve that you take off and you can pop them in the dishwasher. Anyway, you can put that in the dishwasher too, but because this is, this is engraved. Okay. I'm, this is, I'm crazy. I'm, I'm talking about coffee mugs and I should be talking about dog training. So here's how you can win the coffee mug is you share this live. I think this is a really important message. Share this live anywhere in social media. Come on back into our comment section and say, I shared it. Here's where I shared it. Oh, oh, look at this. Brian says we can give away two. Two. We can give away two. And I might even give away the recipe of my favorite coffee concoction. Okay. Okay. So we're going to give away two. Woo. Woo. Woo. Woo. Woo. Woo. Woo. I want to read some of the comments that you guys have made when I was giving away prizes. Um, this is why you're, this is why teaching your dog through these programs, helpless, grows people right alongside our dogs. So here was one of the, here was one of the top, the, the titles I was going to have for today's live. Um, I have this, this today's live was a combination of, I don't know, there was probably 20 members of my team. We were, we had, we meet, we get together on Fridays. Well, they get together every morning. I get together on Fridays. I'm only allowed on Fridays because I'm a bit of a disruptor in these meetings. And they all shared their input about what, what we should be sharing in this live. So one of the top titles that I wanted, um, I was considering was, um, how to live your best life by training your dog. And this is what I truly believe. And I'm writing a book about this topic that we all as human beings, as we age, we carry a lot of baggage from trauma of not just our childhood, but generational trauma from our parents. I don't want to get too woo, but it's been, it's been proven by science that, um, trauma can pass in the DNA. It's kind of a fight or flight thing. And so as we age, we, you know, we have our hangups, anxieties, whatever quirks, um, triggers that anger us. And I believe that our goal as human beings is to ascend to a better place where we are more compassionate, kinder humans, not just to ourselves, but to every living being in the universe. And I believe all of us, there is a vector to help us be that person.

And if you're watching this chances are there is at least one pet in your life. That is that vector for you. So all of my dogs helped me to learn to be a better human. And it comes true for me in the way I apply my training in the way I, I look at any situation that back in 2008, I started writing a blog. I ended every blog, uh, episode with what I was grateful for. And that just that daily gratitude helped me to shift what I was doing and how I looked at things. And so I believe that the dogs in our lives help us to be better people because we have to change to, in order to help them. We, we all, we all, we all want the best life for our dogs, but the irony is in order to be the best, to give our dogs that best life, something in us have to change, has to change along the way. And, um, and that's, that's the thing that I've learned and the thing that I, I really encourage everyone in our classrooms to embrace because it, then when you are dealing with an emotion, who here has never got frustrated in dog when they're training their dog, right? Right in the comments. If you're a person who has never been frustrated when you're training your dog and you're writing that that's you, then I bet there's other things you lie about as well, because we're human or human. We get frustrated. I get frustrated, but what I, what here, I'm going to give you the plan. So today I wanted to talk about emotions, talk about mindset. I want to give you a plan on how to help yourself. And I'm going to talk about my, uh, our programs because it's black Friday today. Hey, happy black Friday and happy Thanksgiving, um, yesterday to everybody who is celebrating it. But I want you to know, I am not going, I'm not here to sell you anything. I'm here to, I will present opportunities to join our online programs, but I am not going to sell you because I love my communities. I love our online programs. People that are in there are curious learners. There's nobody in there that had to be sold because if they had to be sold, then they would be, sorry, I'll throw my text off. Um, that is, that is my ringtone for Kim, because I always want to be in a good mood when I answer that. So yes, it's a theme from the Muppets a little bit more about Susan that you didn't know. So, um, that's why I'm never going to sell to anybody. I never going to try to persuade somebody. You need to be in my programs because you need to discover if I'm your people. And if we're a good match, then we'll work together and I will help you with your dog. Um, but if you're not my people, I don't want to convince you to be in our program.

So that's how it works. We'll talk more about that later. I want to give you now, um, um, I'm going to see what Joe has to say here. I've been blessed with a vector you speak of. We started on the path of training and brought me to find you. Your positivity is honestly a daily shot in the arm for me. Thank you, Joe. That's beautiful. And that's how we're all ascending to be our highest self, to be our best person, because there will be emotions like, um, frustration that, or, or resentment or bitterness towards people. It may even be towards our dogs. Hopefully not. We, we have these emotions and here is how I want you to deal with that. Um, because when you come in to train your dog, we all need to self-regulate before we can train our dogs. Because if we come in about talking about the jerk who cut us off and I like to, you know, somebody cuts me off in traffic. I like to think, wow, I hope they are able to stop the bleeding on that obvious injury that they have, because they're going really fast, possibly the hospital. So I always create a story for myself that is one of, you know, that, that, you know, there's some, they're in, they're in some obvious pain. If it's not physical pain, clearly it's mental pain that they are being such a complete asshat as they're driving through traffic. But I shouldn't have said that. That's judgmental. So here's the, here's the plan. We have to self-regulate in order to be the best for our dog. We can't carry our day's frustrations. None of us are perfect humans. All of us are still working through our past traumas. Our dogs know that. Our dog, I believe all dogs are healers. And I believe that's true of all pets that we have relationships with. And so as we journey on, first thing we need to do, I'm going to, we're going to train today. And if you're in one of our programs, the training happens in games. So it's, it's fun, but you can't go into a good game going, come on, I got to do this today. So you're going to ask yourself, number one, and you can write these steps down. What am I feeling? Oh, I'm going to come back to that, Pamela. That's a good, that's a good one. Maybe if I can star you, I don't know if that makes me be able to come back to you or not. Number one, what am I feeling? Now you can say, oh, I'm frustrated because I've got so much to do, but I know I need to train my dog. So I've got to get this done. So I'm frustrated. That's, that's the feeling. Why? Why are you frustrating? Well, because you know, I, my tires are, need to be rotated and I, and I can't do that on my own. And I just don't know. I don't know where I came up with that story.

I've never rotated tires in my life. Um, so you're going to go through, spin out all of these things. Why, how are you feeling and why this is the critical question you ask next. What are those things in my control? Is it within my control that it's raining outside and I've got to do gardening? Is it within my control that, that jerk cut me off in traffic and it really scared me? Is it within all that's within your control and my control is my response to the things that are happening around me and my choice, what I'm going to do next. It, how somebody else talks about me, how somebody else treats me, Lord knows. And this is, I'm going to do a little side tangent because there's a lot of gifted young dog trainers right now on the internet. I'm not one of the young dog trainers. I'm one of the, I'm calling myself middle-aged at 62. There's a lot of gifted young dog trainers that because of social media are dumped on regularly. This is an important message for all of you. We need you. We need you to be awesome. We need you to shine your light. What is in your control? The way people talk about you is not within your control. People talk about Susan Garrett, maybe not as much as they used to, but they still do a lot. And is that in my control? It's not. When you are doing things differently, people will talk about you a lot. And you've got to be, that's none of my business. Is it in my control what they're saying? It is not in my control. What's in my control? What I'm about to do with my dog. And here's the next step in this process that I do. Put my hands on my heart and take a deep breath. And I think about what I'm grateful for at that moment. Always shifts my emotions. I've got my dog in front of me. Last week, I made a little post on Instagram when I was at the U.S. Nationals, U.S. Open. And I posted a picture of myself leaning over my dog. I put one hand on her chest near her heart. And I just studied another hand in the back end. And I have this, I visualize our energies going down to the center of the earth, wrapping around the core, coming up the other side, coming into our heads and connecting. So that's before I go into the training is the competition. I connect with my dog energetically. Then I take a deep breath and I tell my dog every single time I run. So I think I ran, what, like 30 times? I don't know how many times I ran at the Nationals. 15. Yeah, I ran two dogs. Let's say on average I ran 30 runs last week. 30 times I said this. I love you and nothing that's going to happen in that ring will ever change that. And then I go and I'm in a really good place.

I'm not going in going, oh, I hope I get a clean run. Oh, my God, I hope my dog is perfect. Oh, my gosh, I hope my timing is right. Oh, my gosh, I hope I can stay connected. Focus on what's in my control, what's important to me. And then I go out and I train. All right. So that process, I hope, will give you the tools that it to, let's just try. Just try. What am I feeling? Do I know why? Is that in my control? What's within my control right now? How can I change my emotion? And I go to gratitude. You go to whatever emotion that works for you. I go to gratitude. It always, it always, I think gratitude is one of the most beautiful emotions to feel. All right. So that is the process to now. Now you can train your dog. Now you can do whatever it is that you need to do. Because you're not going to be taking the baggage, the judgment, the dumping on that people have done to you today. None of that comes with you to train your dog. And guess what? You might still feel pretty emotionally drained before you do this. And I might have just given you like a little recharge that's going to give you a three-minute dog training session. Do not push it. Do what you can. Give yourself grace. Enjoy the moment with your dog. And know tomorrow will be a better day. Tomorrow you'll be able to do more. Just do something to bring a little joy into your dog's life. Because remember, incremental joy stacked every day will take you and your dog to an amazing place. It may not happen overnight. It may not be obvious to you right away. But if you look for just building incremental joy every single day, it will take you to a better place. Okay. I'm going to go back and see if I can. This was Pamela's comment. My frustration is procrastination. And look at my dog thinking you deserve better. And you know what, Pamela? I'm sure you are not alone in this thinking. And what I want you to do is know, as my mentor, the late, great Zig Ziglar used to say, yesterday ended last night. Today is a brand new day. And there is one thing you can do. What is it that you can do? That, you know, procrastination might be a way of you, your body telling you, we need a day of rest. Pretending to do something for seven days is just going to wear you out. Take one day and do nothing. Read a book. Walk with your dog. You've got all those things to do. Just forget them. And then when you come back from that little one-day retreat, you're going to then start making a list and planning. Linda Orton Hill was talking to me this morning.

And she said she has to have a piece of paper in her pocket when she goes training or it's not going to be a great training session. That piece of paper is going to be what she planned to train. Now, if you're one of our online students, that piece of paper can be in the form of your iPad that you know that I'm giving you your lesson plans for the day in your iPad or on your phone. But you're going prepared. So you've got to ask yourself. You say, yes, I'm frustrated because I'm procrastinating. Why am I procrastinating? These are great questions to ask yourself. Not saying, you know, my dog deserves better. That self-deprecation is not going to lift you to a better place so you can be better for your dog. Right? So that's a great comment. And I know that it's super, super common for people to feel that way. So just know you're not alone. And what you need is a plan. And a plan where especially, like, I bet you most of the people who are watching this have a full-time job, possibly have a family that you have to take care of. It may be young children. It may be older parents. You might have an older dog that requires some extra attention. Now, Susan, how am I going to now get training in with my younger dog when I have all this? I get you. It's okay. Give yourself grace and start tomorrow. One full day off, one day now of let's make a plan. And if you're, again, if you're in one of our programs, then we've got the plan for you. You don't have to do any thinking. You just have to do some doing. Starting with your emotions. Make sure that you're coming into your training with the best emotional state for your dog. And that's where the full circle happens. We get into the best emotional state for our dog. And we do that day after day after day after day. And now self-regulating is a lot easier. And now showing up as the person we want to be becomes so much easier. And not just for our dog because we're doing it for our dog. But then we know, oh, I've got to have one of those tough conversations with my teenager. But it's easy for me to have that tough conversation from a place of curiosity now because I've done it so much with my dog. And that's where that full circle of being the best version of ourself by training a dog is happening. Does that make sense? I feel that's one of the biggest benefits that has come to me of being a trainer that always looks for solutions and reinforcement and not looking in solutions of punishment. I think that's super, super important for me. Okay. So I did say I'm going to share with you where you can go from now. So it's perception.

What we perceived as this is a horrible thing. We need to shift that perception. And sometimes it's shifting through conditioning. I'll give you an example. To most dogs, the sight of this is a horrible thing, isn't it? That's just perception. We can change that. And some of you have seen, I don't know where Tater is. The fire was on. So he's probably down by the fire. It's only Chelsea and I in the house. So let me just show you. I'm going to change my camera. And if Tater Salad comes upstairs because he hears this. Oh, that's the wrong camera. There we go. All right. So let's see if he comes running. I'll give him a treat. Oh, here's my treat. But I'm going to put this on. I'm going to get ready. The perception is this is an awful thing. You're going to do awful things to me because you're holding that. Okay. Here we go. Did you want your nails done, T.T.? Did you want your nails done? You need your nails done, actually. Search. So there's a dog telling you perceptions can change. Something that everybody thinks is a horrible thing. It doesn't have to be a horrible thing. It's just our perceptions of what we're saying. We're seeing of this is a horrible thing. And Tater Salad is the king, the poster child of our program, Pedicure Please, where we teach you how to have a dog love getting their nails cut. Tater Salad was when he came as a 15-month-old rescue dog. He was dangerous because that big bowling ball head of his was a weapon if you tried to cut his nails. So where do you go from here? I encourage you all to look at where if you have. I would say there's two types of people watching this. Number one, you're really interested in dog agility. If you're really interested in dog agility, then absolutely. I believe you should be in handling 360. It doesn't matter if you're brand new to agility. It doesn't matter if you've been a world champion of dog agility. We have all kinds of people in this program. It allows you to bring clarity to your dog. Whether your dog is over the top with emotion and can't focus well in drive, or your dog is like my dog, this he was, was a little bit more worried. These games bring confidence. And the confidence comes from the clarity of the games. And the clarity of the games brings joy. And that's, that's the daily joy that I'm looking for. So some of you are maybe not ready for handling 360 or you have zero interest in agility. And the best place I recommend everyone start is in Recallers. Each one of those programs is one year. I'm just sharing what the programs are. I am not selling you.

자, 좋습니다. dogsat.com/cyber입니다.
If you want to join, this would be a great time to join because obviously it's the cyber event. So all of our programs are on for the lowest investment you'll ever see them for. And so Recallers is one year of coaching with my team and I. It includes things like the pedicure, please, for free. There's a lot of little other programs. You'll see if you go to dogsat.com forward slash cyber event, you can see more about, or cyber, just cyber. You see more about all of these. All right. Dogsat.com forward slash cyber. So you can find out more about all these programs. For some of you, you're going to, you're saying, well, Susan, I just met you and I don't really have $500. So, you know, then maybe it might be better to start off with homeschool the dog. Instead of a month, it's just four months. Instead of a year, it's just four months. So it's obviously a much lower financial investment, but you get the lesson plans. You get the coaching. You get the community to start right now and bring daily joy that leads you and your dog to a better place than you are today. And if you were interested in pedicure, please, that's a program. If you're joining Recallers, you get that for free. All right. So that's a glimpse. Our programs are, some of them are classrooms. So step-by-step-by-step classroom. Others, like we have Agility Nation, which is more an a la carte. There's like 500 topics in there that you might want. I just want to look on how to train my weed poles. I just want to look on how to fix my seesaw. All of that is in the membership. So monthly membership, but you can get that for a year versus a classroom. So classrooms versus memberships. Those are the two things that you need to know. And I, you know, if you have questions about any of them, I'm happy to sit here and talk to you about them. But you can go to, I'm sure somebody on my team has put in the link for you, dogsat.com forward slash cyber. And you can watch the videos. There's actually a video I did that tells you what would be the best program for you. But if what I talked about today about ascending to be the best person we can be by training your dog with kindness, if that resonates with who you are and where you want to go, then I strongly encourage you to jump inside of one of our programs. And the nice thing is, as I said off the top, I don't want to sell anybody. I don't want anybody to be in our program if it's not a right fit. So all of our programs have a guarantee. Jump inside, try it. Depending on the program, it might be two weeks. You get to try, download what's there, watch the videos.

And if you aren't 100% sure that I'm your people and this is the right community for you, then you will just write my team. We will give you 100% of your money back without any questions. It's how I protect the community. It's how I make sure it's just the curious learners that know that they're in the right spot that stay with us. And it works. You know, I've been teaching dog training for 30 years, but I was one of the first to have online dog training programs. Back in 2008, we started our online programs. And I've seen communities that they have just so much drama in them. We've never had that in ours. Never. Because we make sure we have the right fit people that are in the right place so that we can all ascend as a group. Does that... I hope I'm not, like, going a little bit too woo for you guys. How much of Recallers requires being outdoors? As little or as much as you want. So it really depends on the situation for you and your dog. We do have people that do almost all of it outside. We have people that are in high-rise apartments. We have people that are in... They're limited by, you know, being in an electric chair. So... And we actually... We will help you adapt if you have special needs with what you're doing with training in one of our programs. Do you have questions that you've gathered there, Chelsea? Oh, all right. And I know that, as I asked off the top, there's a lot of our students that are here in the conversation today, so they can jump in as well. All right. The idea of Recaller Games is... You know, let's say you're going to train in your house. You want to train in your bathroom, in your rec room, your TV room, whatever you call it, in your bedroom, your kitchen. The more locations that you can generalize, the better the dog's behavior gets overall. So, if you are a person who likes to go hiking, who likes to go on picnics, who likes to go sailboating, who likes to take your dogs all over the place, then we suggest you start all of the Recallers training in your home, but then we start growing new environments because we need to generalize that good behavior, the dog listening to all environments. And the way it works is all of our games are just layers. Oh my gosh, Sarah, I love you. That's awesome. You're for the woo. I, you know, I woke up this morning. I meditate every morning, usually 30 to 60 minutes. So, after my meditation, I came out and I wrote like a page, 100% woo. And I'm like, someday I'm going to go live and I'm going to just... You guys got, you guys got, you got a lot of woo today, but you didn't get 100% woo. So, it really depends on...

Oh, thank you for the shout outs. We pride ourselves on, as a team, it doesn't matter if it's one of our video editors. It doesn't matter if it's a data collecting person that's on our team. It doesn't matter what the role is. We want to make sure that anybody, if they're looking in our front door or our back door, they see the core values that we hold about training dogs can be seen in the way that we treat the members of our community or the people who are just curious about being a member of our community. So, thank you for the shout out to the team because I think they're pretty awesome. So, everything is done in a layer, whether it's, you know, agility is a biggie right now. When I was at the U.S. Open, I was like, I wish there was a thousand dogs entered there. And, man, I easily, easily, I would say 90% could use Handling360. It would be of a great value, a massive value. And the other 10%, it would benefit them, but they're not as, they're not leaking oil the way some of those other handler teams are. And why do I mean that? Like, it hurt my heart that dogs were picked up and carried off the course, that dogs were yelled, no, that dog, because the dog's doing the best they can with what you've taught them. And the sport of dog agility has gotten to a place that if you can't outrun your dog, you have to have the layers of dog training to create clarity for your dog. And so, there were people who couldn't outrun their dog. And was it because there was a little embarrassment because they couldn't get around the courses? Was it that they felt shame or that they were letting their dog down? And all of that emotion spilled out into yelling at the dogs or picking them up and carrying them off the course. And it just doesn't have to be like that. It really doesn't. I just, I see people brand new to dog training that start in our Recallers program, go to Handling360, and they're amazing agility handlers. I just love it. So, let me know if you have any questions, any more questions. Otherwise, I'm going to jump off here because it's Black Friday. So, that means shopping. Okay. I'm not doing any Black Friday shopping, but you guys can. Okay. No other questions for me, Chelsea? Okay. So, yes. And that one too, Petra. A lot of threatening and leash jerking at the start line. If you go back, maybe I should post some of my runs with my dogs. And maybe I'm a little bit too laissez-faire about it. But I ask my dogs to sit and then I go to where I want to be and go, oh, yeah, hey, it's me. Let's go. And that's just the way it's been for me running dogs in agility. And where does that all start?

It starts in crate games, then in Recallers. That's what gives me great skills for dog agility. So, there's going to be a post on my Dogs That Facebook page. And it's going to be for gems. This has been a lot of woo. And I would love if you have got a takeaway, a gem, an aha from this live that you would go and share on that post. And when we get back together, probably Sunday when we'll do another live, if I can convince my team to join me on Sunday. They're always game. Then we will do this again. And we'll give away more prizes. Oh, JRD, thank you for asking this question. Can you quickly tell us why not carry your dog off a course? So, people stop the course because it ends up being a cluster of that they just, they feel like it's not going well. And by picking the dog up, you are saying, this is on you, buddy. Because from the dog's point of view, it's sticks, tunnels, and ramps. This is fun. Oh, you're going that way? Okay, sticks, tunnels, and ramps over here. Whee, whee, whee. Why not just finish the run? Or even, I saw a couple handlers doing this. Let's say this was the course. You start over here, and you're going to go all the way around and end up, here's your finish line. So, they start over here, and it's like one mistake, another mistake, another mistake, and then they just go, I'm going to just shortcut over to the finish line and get out of here. Too many mistakes for me. I got to get out of here. I'm 100% okay with that. But the implication, by picking your dog up, you are saying, you were bad, you were wrong, you didn't take the course in the order that they should have been done. Therefore, I'm going to carry you off. It's not the dog's fault. You either didn't handle it well, or you didn't train it great in the first place. It's never the dog's fault. Never. Never. I have competed with at least 10 dogs in the sport of dog agility. And have I ever carried dogs off? Early on, yes. Because it was a time out. Dogs had to learn. Now I know I just got to train better. Here's the brilliant thing. The more clarity you have in your training, the more engagement you have in your training, the more brilliant your dog is. Now people come into Recallers and they go, well, why haven't I taught? Where's my sit and my down and my come and my, well, you're going to teach come and Recallers. But people want to know when do we teach the sit and the down? Now, our perception of a trained dog is based by hundreds of years of these are the skills we train a dog. They will sit. They will stay. They will down. Why? My puppy is, he'll be five months old next week. He's a brilliant Border Collie.

He probably now knows 20 cues really, really well, has another 30 or more that we're working on. He doesn't even have even the slightest clue what down is. I haven't taught it yet. I'll get around to it. I just don't think it's one of the big, the biggies. Hop it up on a hot zone. Like, why do we need a dog to sit and stay at 10 weeks? Why can't they just generally be on a hot zone, on a raised bed or in a dog bed? Why do we need them to be controlled? No, crate games. Be in a dog bed. I'll get around to teaching down. It's a Border Collie. They want to do it anyway. So, yeah. The way we train is different. It's different and we get great buy-in from the dog, which means you are going to want to do more and more training, which means there's more joy for everybody and you get better results, for sure. So, would you give me a hint to stop continuous barking? I'm not sure, Renee. When's your dog continuously barking? Is it always bad to pick your dog up? Not in agility, but everyday stuff. Am I bag both bananas? Or is it an overload? If I pick her up and hold her like a baby, she settles and really seems to love it. It's like a big relief. Aw, Karen, that's beautiful. No. If you are picking your dog up like I need to swaddle you because you're a bit much right now, that's a gesture of love, isn't it? But if you're picking him up, come here, you little SOP. What are you doing? That's different. And I would suggest that if you're getting that often, then we're going to look at big picture. Why is my dog going bananas? What is triggering? Is it diet? Is it the lack of sleep? Is it lack of exercise? What is it? I'm getting it? But I've said this. If you listen to Shaped by Dog Podcast, I've said it many times. I believe our dogs are always doing the best they can with the education we've given them and the environment we chose to put them in. And so sometimes the environment is overwhelming. I've had great training sessions with Profit. And when I was in Florida last week and I was training in an open area where he could see dogs and everything, it wasn't the same. So I had to lower my expectations, but I wasn't mad at him. It was the environment I put him in. What can we do? What can we do? And I went back into the motor home and I changed my training plan. And we had a great training session based on what I saw at the first one. Barks at the neighbors. I use a shaker bottle, which helps. Renee, a shaker bottle is saying you're a bad dog. Yeah, see, even Profit doesn't agree. Shaker bottle is saying you're a bad dog. Therefore, I'm going to threaten you with this thing. So your dog just needs some clarity.

와거도 고맙대요. dogsat.com/cyber에 방문해 보세요.
Renee, if you're not in one of our programs, I suggest that you start with something like homeschool the dog. And do a deep dive into my YouTube channel. There's some great videos there that, and I think you're watching this from YouTube, Renee. So many great videos that will help you understand what's going on. Susan, is training set pretty bad for dogs' backs? No, I don't think so. I believe there are some dogs you probably don't want to do it with, but I still teach my dogs to seduce it pretty. It's one of the ones I do later on, but no. Okay. Thank you, guys. Wagger says thank you. And please go over to dogsat.com forward slash cyber. See if I'm your people. See if you're going to be part of our program for the next year. I'd love to have you there. We'll see you next time. Sunday. Sunday. I'll be here. Sunday. Sunday. Thank you.
