heard it and then I had to go and look it up um so in different parts of the world is more prevalent like unfortunately here in Canada there's no legislations against puppy Milling yet um so I will give you an example um and and I don't want their I don't want tonight to be yeah so everybody else who's never heard their term puppy broker it's a biggie I don't want tonight in the comments to turn into anything unpleasant so I am a hundred percent supportive of rescuing dogs of rescue associations I donate to them annually so I I don't want this to become a a political discussion about should we be breeding dogs or who has the right to breed dogs that's not what this is about tonight it's about educating number one it's about loving on some puppy and sharing with you I've had my puppy for this is my is this my second day 24 hours yesterday was 24 hours so it's been 48 hours plus a couple hours that I have I have had my puppy in my arms so you're gonna you're going to see what do I do with a puppy that I've had for 48 hours and um and hopefully even if you don't have a puppy you might know of somebody as a puppy that you can help them with what they're doing so that I mean my goal is for puppies to have the best life and that comes from being intentionally raised to you know be the healthiest number one and the happiest by the enrichment and the environment that that we are engaging those puppies in Okay so a lot of you have never heard of the term puppy broker I am so glad that you have turned into to tonight's live so puppy Farm or puppy mill is when a person or person or sometimes a corporation decides to breed dogs because they see an opportunity to make a lot of money and good ethical breeders rarely make a lot of money some of them lose money on a litter okay my last litter it cost me fifteen thousand dollars to raise that litter and I sold each of the four puppies while I sold three because I kept one myself each of those three puppies I believe were sold for eighteen hundred dollars so you do the math there isn't uh done correctly done ethically there isn't a ton of money to be made when you're breeding dogs now there are a lot of breeders that do make a decent amount of money but they put in a lot of hard work and really good breeders guess what you're getting the experience of their knowledge and their decision making on um the the number one the health clearances that they do you know when I was a kid my mom wanted to buy from a backyard breeder why why does anyone want to buy from a backyard breeder because we didn't want to pay for papers if we weren't going to show the dog that's all the layperson thought was

different you don't have to pay for papers we're not going to register your dog so you'll save money that's not the only thing that's different there's so much that goes into ethically breeding dogs and it's number you know number one it's about raising and selecting uh very healthy dogs that are you know true to the breed that themselves what they've been bred to do and then all of the the investment of the clearances for the eyes and the and x-raying the shoulders and the elbows when you say I'm I'm going to go to a cheaper source for my puppy then guess what happens I promise you the difference between a puppy male puppy about the price you pay which sometimes they're a lot of money the difference that you pay between that and an ethical like the best ethical breeder I the the difference that you pay I promise you you are going to make that up in the veterinarian bills that you are going to be paying when you buy from an unethical breeder I promise you that your you can either and and it's sad when you have to have those puppies into the vet to the veterinarian constantly because of some health problems I could have been avoided if you bought a puppy from an ethical breeder so let me that's a tip of the iceberg about why you should not buy and sometimes you don't even know because here's why are the puppy Brokers come in I'm going to give you the example of tater salad tater salad was a puppy mill dog how do I know that for sure give you an exam another example Tater is a mixed up of three breeds he is uh 50 just about 50 bulldog and he's part pug and part Boston Terrier uh I think 20 pug in 30 Boston interior those are rough ratios all right I will and he I believe is a puppy male dog now belief who is another dog in our household who's also made up of three uh different braids fifty percent Staffordshire Bull Terrier 20 um Papillon and 30 border calling all right three different breeds two different dogs belief came from an ethical breeder who did everything she could to raise these puppies and to have the best enrichment and the best life so that they could have a great start now there's something called the coefficient of inbreeding that means how related the parents are to each other now with three different breeds how related could they be so beliefs what they call coefficient of inbreeding it is a mathematical equation however if you get your dog's DNA done they will tell you exactly how much inbreeding is in your dog now belief made up of a a a staffy a Papillon and a border collie is one percent uh inbred one percent because they're all three are dogs so there's going to be a relation somewhere tater salad is 14

related his parents are three different breeds 14 related which means they're just breeding brother sister mother and you know father everybody together tater's father's probably his brother and his cousin and possibly his mother I don't know he is very very inbreed now puppy mills used to sell to pet stores now the vast majority of pet stores now will not sell puppies because they know that's not a great environment for a puppy to be raised they get shipped out between three and five weeks of age it's horrific breeders you should be hanging onto your properties till at least nine weeks in my opinion and not just my opinion the opinion of a lot of experts small breeds should probably hang on till 10 to 12 weeks but these puppy mills want them out at three to five weeks and sometimes they'll lie about the age of the puppies to get rid of them and so what they do is they will sell them at a wholesale to a puppy broker and I gotta tell you of all my friends that have Doodles and think they got them from a great breeder I don't have the heart to tell any of them they got their doodle from a broker and I know that for a fact because you are handed your puppy in a parking lot somewhere or at an airport somewhere you don't ever get to visit the puppy with the mother you don't ever get to see the puppy with the litter mates and those people most of the time we'll follow up with a phone call within the first three weeks if you ordering that puppy saying oh little Fluffy's Litter Mate really misses them and they really want them back so please if you don't know you can't do that's why awareness is number one and that's why my team and I are getting behind some of these organizations that are really pushing towards shutting down puppy mills puppy farms and educating people because the best way to shut down in my opinion from what I can gather puppy mills are like it's like a game of whack-a-mole you shut them down in one area they're coming back up in another and they're just doing the same thing because there's too much money for them to make because there's unsuspecting people that are going to buy these puppies however if we can educate the world you share this live with everybody you know that even has an inkling of liking dogs you share this live with everybody if we can educate the world that there is a difference between a puppy mill puppy Farm puppy mill a a puppy broker someone making money off the back of the puppy mills keeping the puppy mills in business by taking those puppies and selling them and making money there so the puppy mills get some money because they the the conditions a lot of these puppy mills the conditions

are horrific they just breed their females over and over and over again until they either die or they they get them up get rid of them because they can't breed anymore and then they sell those puppies to puppy brokers who sell them to unsuspecting people for a lot of money they'll vaccinate the heck and deworm the heck out of those puppies before you get them because it's the the the likelihood of these puppies carrying all sorts of uh parasites and viruses are really really high so they want to make sure they can keep them alive till they can sell them to an unsuspecting person all right so those are the puppy mills puppy Farms puppy Brokers backyard breeders hey I got I got a golden retriever you I you got a golden retriever can let's just let's just make some puppies because because I got my brother wants one that's not the way to make puppies people it's not if you have a dog go back to your breeder if it's an ethical breeder ask them do you think this dog is worthy enough to be bred um and they'll that breeder will say you get the hip scores done the elbows the eyes whatever genetic problem is in your breed let's do some genetic testing and make sure we are not putting sick or unhealthy dogs out on the street because we decided we want to breed our own dog and your breeder will give you great guidance on that and let me tell you at the end of the day it's better to just buy another puppy from an ethical breeder right the investment you make in an ethical breeder will pay for itself by having a puppy there's no guarantees with any breeder I mean dogs can get sick but I promise you the guarantee goes way way up when you buy from somebody who does uh invest their time because they want the puppies they produce to have an amazing life that's that's what they're looking for all right so um yeah so there's and I know there's a lot there there's there's so much money I personally know somebody who breeds a popular breed of dog right now and she told me she makes between one and two million dollars a year breeding breeding as long as that is out there there's going to be people that are going to do everything in their power to get a piece of that and that's the sad we want to produce you know the likelihood of having an amazing family pet or if you want to have an amazing Hunt dog or you want a amazing agility dog the likelihood goes way up when you get a dog if you're getting a puppy rather than a rescue you get a puppy from a breeder that has a history of caring for their puppies how do you know because they'll let you see the parents they'll let you see the puppies in their environment where

they're raising them they will probably have aunts and uncles to say you know here's all the health problems and here's because if they say they've never had health problems run run because they're not telling you the truth they're going to have something but we know we've bred 100 dogs in the last 10 years and we've had you know one one dog with OCD and one dog with hip dysplasia yeah that's what you know that's it's gonna happen but you you need to go to those people who'll be willing to tell you the truth all right so we Happy Meals we need we're going to work together we're gonna shut that down education number one puppy Brokers will be shut down when our puppy mills are shut down and if you're a backyard breeder meaning you haven't educated yourself on all the things you need to know about whelping and rearing puppies about educating and keeping them safe and healthy and if you don't know it's so much work to do it right if you haven't done that but you're really Keen to breed your dog go back to your breeder first that's the first place that I would say suggest all right now the lines between an ethical breeder a backyard breeder and a puppy mill my friends they get kind of blurry so you have to be be very aware because there could be people who start all as ethical breeders and they they maybe their line of dog gets popular in sport or popular for their looks and they see the opportunity to make a lot of money and suddenly instead of breeding one to three litters a year they're now breeding 10 to 15 litters a year now I'm not saying you can't breed 10 to 15 litters a year and do it ethically you can if you're set up for it and you have enough enough uh people working for you to do it but um there's a lot more that are not okay so if you have any questions about anything that I've been doing with my cutie patootie I'm going to try it see if I can do this one more time uh no that didn't work what have I done okay if you have any questions about what I've been doing put it in the in the in the comment section there he is I'm going to get them out and I'm going to do something um do I still have this wow so that's my first question uh that's like asking me do I still have a a limb or a an organ in my body when my puppies come into my home I get weepy just thinking about them they're home for life so absolutely I still have this and we just competed uh uh her first ever big multi-ring agility trial last weekend I could spend a whole life talking about this so you will never need to ask but you are always welcome to ask any questions about my dog because I believe if I put myself in the public of whatever our little

Fishbowl is here that we call um you know a dog agility world or or online pet dog training world I'm putting myself out there I believe it's my responsibility to live a transparent life with my dogs if I'm asking you to put put your trust in me as an online educator then I believe it's my responsibility to be a hundred percent transparent you could come and live with me you might get crowded but if you did come and live with me for a day a week a month you would see the exact same person that you are seeing anytime I'm in front of a camera on TV on TV on a live training my dogs so absolutely I still have this thank you for asking uh how old is profit Profit just turned 10 weeks or 11 weeks old yesterday so he came on a plane on Wednesday uh I met him at uh 6 15 in the evening and then he you know we got the car drove home and so you know he we you know we got to know each other for a couple of hours on Wednesday night and one of the things I didn't post it if I'm going to be 100 transparent he bit the crap out of me he got a little overtired you know time delay oh he bit the crap out of me on on Wednesday night I laughed I've got it on video I can share it with you sometime um okay how is profit adapting to my pack is it hard to keep focus on you with the other dogs around so I'm really intentional about how my I got when I bring a puppy into my home I want to make sure that my dogs Swagger who's almost 13 it doesn't matter thisie who's the next really oldest of my dogs I want them to know that they are still so important to me so I don't just throw the puppy in and say you know let's figure it out I'm really really very intentional so everybody met each other um outside first on on a side of a baby gate then they met each other with all the dogs loose in the front yard and the puppy on a leash and now the puppy is either loose with just me loose with me and Swagger when I do my demo tonight Swagger will start off in this area but if he's too distracting for profit then he'll go outside of the area um he can be so the three boys the three red boys tater salad Swagger and profit have spent time together and with this e what I'm doing is I'm really working some connection through uh the baby gate so tonight while I was eating this he was pressed up against the baby gate where the puppy was working through a puppy bomb because she's not a confident dog and she doesn't know how to deal with a puppy and so I'm just building up value for hanging out with that puppy when there's a gate on either side of us um what um Bridget asked what was it that Drew you to profit aside from the fact that he's adorable obviously I um it's a

that's a that's a that is alive all on its own I believe it was divine intervention and um I had no intention of getting a puppy nor would I intend well you know I was on the list I really really love prophet's parents and I was on a list to get a puppy from a friend of mine in the U.S who's breeding a litter using semen from the same German dog she's breeding early next year so I was on a list for one of those puppies so um but I decided on that profit was to be my dog when he was less than two weeks old I knew so and um having him for two days he's everything I mean I I didn't imagine anything up that he would be he's just I just knew that I would love him uh does he have a nickname yet he does have a nickname from living in Switzerland so apparently and um any of you that are out there that are Swiss you can correct me if I'm wrong on what I'm going to say now apparently when something is small and cute in Switzerland they add an uh l-e-l-i to the end so uh properly profitly profitly is is um his nickname profitly so I found myself calling him Fiddy today so prophecy property fitty fitty and you know 50 cents is a great philosopher so I think that's not a bad nickname for a prophet either um okay here's a great question asking an ethical breeder their opinion on whether a person should breed their own dog is one option but it just important they should consult the veterinarian oh misty I am sorry I forgot that that's can also provide expert on breed guidelines hips and Etc uh as well as whelping and in partnership with good breeders can provide the best results so there are a lot of reproductive veterinarians and that's who I would ask I I would not ask your family veterinarian advice on reproduction because they have to know so many darn things veterinarians like they should be paid ten times what they paid for what they have to be experts of and so there are veterinarians who are reproductive veterinarians that really really understand that part of it but I agree Misty Consulting your veterinarian is another great option okay um I heard eight weeks is the best time to pick up a puppy from an ethical breeder aren't they going uh going through a fear period after 12 weeks here's um there's a couple really really good courses that you can take that I've been through on um how to be a be a breeder um and the one that I took was recently sold and I can't remember the name of it so um I can't I can't tell you the name of it right now off the top of my head but in there is where I learned that puppies really should be with their mothers um and tell their about nine to ten weeks of age and if they're smaller

older like maybe 12 weeks of age and so I've kept my last couple of litters that long and what I noticed was oh we have property properly see thank you Alexandra what I noticed was that the the puppies learn to play with each other and then um and the mother's there and plays you know part of that but they learn a lot of bite inhibition and things like that from their litter mates as they grow up which is why when you have a single tin a puppy a litter of just one puppy it's you know it's more problematic but what I've found is the mother really steps in and teaches them lessons about adult dogs from that nine to ten week age period so if they go home at eight weeks then that gets missed and so my my litter of seven puppies there was a lot of uh puppies there they really were well balanced on when they when they left here and it was amazing to see minty with her litter she would pick the bully in that letter and she would play with her in a way that taught her that you can't be bullies to adult dogs so it was really fascinating to see so I think for me personally I um I like to keep a puppy so so Prophet stayed with his breeder until he was nine weeks old and um but there were 10 puppies in that litter that was that I mean man if I don't know if you could ask a breeder to keep keep all of them that long um okay how do you help the older dogs not be jealous um I really try to spend special time in the first week and and I talked to my pop I talked to my you know what people are thinking Susan's crazy dog lady that's okay about a month before that puppy comes home um I talk to my dogs and let them know what's going on and make sure that nothing is going to change in how I feel about my dogs so you know what if you don't tell your dog do you love them on a regular basis Crazy Aunt Susan says you better start right so they don't really know they can tell by the way I Pat them in the way I snuggle them you know what no they don't know 100 for sure no tell your dogs you love them um okay I'm gonna get the puppy out um and I'm going to do I'm going to share with you some of the things that I've been working on so I've had if you if you don't keep a journal I've been really lazy with with him with my journaling um so I've had in in just over 48 hours I had five Training sessions yesterday and I had three by the looks of it is today three okay we both have my fourth uh training session today so my first my first I would say week um and it's really different this is really different for me because um the last 13 years I have always bred my own dogs so I could start a lot of the training when they were six seven eight weeks old and

everybody went home when they were nine to ten weeks old so at 10 weeks I started training my puppy who I knew really well and they knew me really well and a lot of the training would already had already started so they already knew crate games and it's your choice and things like that so with uh profit um he was with a friend of mine in Switzerland or in for well two friends of mine were looking after him for four or two weeks so that they did a lot of confidence building with him although he was a pretty confident puppy when I got him so that first week with me I really want to build safety so that puppy knows you are safe and so I I've seen him twice be a little bit leery of people coming up to him and and sitting down and and like him walking and then meeting them and he gets Leary so today when he met people I carried him in and put him down in the middle of the people that was fine right so I'm always looking to build confidence in anything that I do in my my training and so he there's a lot of things he doesn't have but I'm doing shaping with it like I'm building behaviors within the things that I do all right so I will get them out now and I will just um I'll share with you I'm going to do some tug with the toy I have I'm going to do two equal value toys and then I'm going to go to a um a a newer and lower value toy for him then I'll bring out the cookies and see if I can get a simple behavior and then tug while the cookies are there that's a difficult one for him I've got three different value of cookies so I'm going to give them lower value cookies and then build up to some higher value cookies okay are we all ready for give me a a heck yes in the comments if you really want to me do some puppy training right now and then after we come back I'm going to share with you the two um Charities that we're going to be um becoming partners with in in our efforts to help educate the world about puppy puppy farms and and um let's shut them down okay am I going to do a new puppy Peaks no probably not I'm I've been putting most of it just on on the free on the free line on the free line okay so um I'm gonna go get the Puppy Cam going here take a little sip of water okay and I hope you can hear me so I'm gonna just turn close this gate up I made a little makeshift gate to see if he can all right I'm not gonna put him on a leash because I kind of got this area secure but I got the leash there if I need it and as I mentioned before he um it really doesn't know crank games but I'm just going to give him a cookie before he gets a chance to close out the door and give him another cookie and give them another cookie and then

I'm gonna close the door and then another cookie hide at the back look at peanut and he's like you got boring cookies lady and quickly I'm going to say right yay where'd you go mister we close this I've got this tea here oh and here comes your brother Swagger you're a ghost here it goes spiders come in for TV so I want TV okay that's pretty good no you keep playing with this one yeah yeah yeah yeah your toys yeah like not good boy might be tough competition with me with your brother having a squeaky toy no toy Yay good boy so so good so so so good look at you look at you look at you okay so I'm gonna bring he's never seen this before and I'll just do a little bit of this is um moderate value cookie so it's homemade tuna tuna brownies good boy so I'm gonna do a little hand touch and then this is what I was working on earlier tonight not that one see if I can get so so he doesn't know it's your choice but good boy your research he doesn't know it's your choice but all I do is you know kind of cover it like that and cook yay I'm just hoping he is never good boy search he's never been up here and he's never seen that uh Propel before good I don't want him that's his default is to go into Dow in good search another one book oh so we've been working reinforcement Zone that's good boy search so those are some of the things that we've been working I'm going to grab the toy again see if now can you tub with the food around yay that's been a hard one it's been a hard one I want the cookies lady I just want the cookies that's all I want is a cookie soup teeth we've worked on this a little bit today okay it's like you can't be distracted search those are in there good that's your brother he's super cute there's something about this you liked a few minutes ago lady Gaga boy good boy there we go yes goes so good cookie you can't think she's cheating cookie and search nice can we get that out of the pot yay there's a cup yay cook such a good boy one fell off we'll do one more and then we're gonna play some more good boy search that's the first time

he's come over and looked at this bowl and not dove in foreign super good good look at you being super good now you'll notice there's a big change in him if I stand up search so I've been doing a lot sitting down so if I try to get his front paws up there but look do a little bit of pivot work okay nice boy nice boy look at you go look at you look so good good man so good I think that's enough for you I think that's enough for you I think this team because you're a superstar this is so good you should do something okay I'm gonna go back to my microphone okay so how do I end this training session puppy just got a lot of really good cookies I'm now going to my high value cookies there's some roasted chicken some steaks some bison really high value cookies so I'm gonna probably have five or six of those I'm going to scatter them in here and he's got a couple things to chew on as well so as much as he loved training with me he now has an opportunity to find some even higher value rewards in his account all right it's ready do you want to go in there oh uh am I working on a confirmation stack no uh I'm just working on fitness body awareness helping him to feel what a balance point is in his body so no um I did confirmation when I was a teenager and I'm highly unlikely to ever go back because you just can't do everything and he's not a dog that is a confirmation bred dog so okay so what did you learn and what was a surprise what did you learn and what was a surprise from what you just saw there leave a leave a comment in there he is adorable would you take him for a party typically after a training session before it right before and right after I would and he did get a potty session right before and I'm hoping you know he's been really really good with his putting he does not wake me up in the night he woke me up the first night at four in the morning went right back to sleep and he did not wake me up last night so um yeah early tugging in the presence of treats offers behaviors really good with his pivot um I agree Karen more adorable every second um waiting for all four um on boards even for a baby so you know you really have to be careful with a puppy that age that you don't frustrate them it's all about confidence and so if I get two feet up like he has been giving me all four on but we've never trained up here and so I would then just do some searches you know go

on back behind the boards and then by where I'm throwing my my search reset cookie he'd find his way back up to straight okay um so what did I learn on getting crate games when I have another property absolutely definitely um a very hot it always always nice high uh rate of reinforcement and the tug yesterday we we um did not get tugged in the presence of food so our Target in the presence of food today is really really quite good and um all I did was just say okay I'm going to build your value for tug and there'd be no food anywhere nearby because I don't want to frustrate this little 11 week old puppy it's all about you know having them to have this this big presence that they can do anything um and yes keeping it short and sweet here's the cool thing about about uh smartphones guys I I have two smartphones and you know one can be older you know an obsolete smartphone is fine so I have my best smartphone as my camera but when I train I set up my camera and then just before I cut my puppy just before I put them down I say hey Siri set a timer for and I give her the time that I'm going to plan on working and so far with him I've stopped my session before that timer's gone off every time but time yourself you want to end the sessions long before the puppy looks like they ever want to end the session okay want to talk to you now about um what my team and I might so um as many of you may know there was another online dog trainer who it was disclosed that she was breeding puppies in an unethical way and have a lot of students that were you know doing a game-based program similar to what ours is um she was a former student of ours I really felt badly for for everybody involved I felt badly for mostly the puppies that were being raised in those kind of conditions and environments we have had a lot of students come from that program and want to join our program I do not want us to benefit from that situation so what we've done is we've picked out two associations that if you are coming from that program and joining one of our programs you can send my team an email tonight wagatdogsat.com and you can say I was with this program and I've lost my faith in you know reinforce enforcement-based dog trainers or in online dog trainers or whatever we want to help you so um I've got a surprise for everybody that I'm working on with a another practitioner but for now anybody who joins our programs so homeschool the dog recallers those are the game-based programs that are similar to what they had you know they came along long after us and they came through our programs and then kind of started their own very similar to ours

if you want to come to us because you want to now move on from them we are going to donate 100 of the profits that comes in from that Avenue so you contact the team we'll give you a link to join our program and then we are going to take obviously there is some overhead but any profit that comes into us from that are going to be donated to one of two rescues so the first one is many tears rescue in Wales that does UK wide and I did say when all of this happened a few weeks ago I wanted to First help a UK based um um a organization that was working to shut down puppy Farms so that this would never happen again is there a world that we live in that this could never happen again that somebody could produce so many litters in one year in such in such conditions so we're going to be donating all the profits that come in from uh anybody that was in that program that now wants to be in our program are going to be donated to this is one of our one of the the associations if you are a UK based student all of the money is going to that Association if you are an American student that are in those programs and want to come over to ours then all the profits from are going to be going to bailing out Benji now balio Benji is uh they're they're similar but they're different bailing Al Benji is is really into education I'm really helping the world to open other eyes up to where they should be getting dogs from you know Veterinary Care is expensive you want to minimize that by starting with the best healthiest puppy you can get and then feeding the best healthiest food you can afford and then of course engagement and enrichment for that dog so this is what we're going to do we are going to set up a a way that you can also donate and we are going to match donations to these two associations outside of any of the profits that we make from people joining our program so I just thought today being a national puppy mill awareness day is a perfect day for us to make this announcement that um we we want to stop puppy Farms we want to stop POP emails we want to stop puppy brokers we want puppies to be raised in in a in a home where they're loved and engaged and you would not believe the number of things that um the prophets breeder did with the litter of 10 puppies that's no small task so there are really really good breeders out there and and they even them knowing what is possible um these programs like uh the the one that I took and um there's there's a couple of really good programs for breeders to educate themselves on what to expect with their puppies and how to to raise the the best and healthiest puppy ever so this is just a start

um my team I want to you know give props to my team who researched a lot of different um Charities that are trying to their best to to um shut down puppy mills and these are the two that we're starting with we're not saying this is it but this these are the two that we are starting with so um more more information will be coming out later on how you can help and just donate to either these two and but this is an ongoing uh Avid dog Charlotte you're a star is that still the name of the program avidog is the is the I felt like it was like breeder you that I went to Greater University and uh I it was amazing how much I learned and I've been breeding dogs for I don't know 20 years before that so um and I do Jane thank you for saying that I I am blessed to be able to work with some of the kindest uh biggest dog lovers on the planet that are constantly looking out for the people in our community to help them help their dogs to have the best life ever okay I'm going to go and um oh yes okay so that's the name of it Rebecca thank you and then um somebody also I saw mentioned the other one uh puppy culture is similar to that one but this is the one that I took that was um I thought was quite good so thank you guys uh do I have any questions left uh anyone on the team before we got a couple more how big do you participate profit getting well I gotta tell you he is small right now but he did come from a litter of 10 puppies so I would expect he'll end up around Swagger's size that's what I I expect looking at his parents and his other um other other half sibs from other from the same sire uh could you talk a little bit about puppy culture what it is and what it isn't so I don't know anything about pepiculture I do know that Avid dog is a phenomenal program um and it was purchased by Good Dog a few years ago and yes either one of those two programs I would if you are breeding dogs and you haven't gone through them there'll be some where you'll be like yeah I got that I get there but there'll be some aha gems for you it will be well worth an investment of your time and it's great when you're going through um preparing for a litter because it's a community of people that are waiting for a litter in the midst of whelping or et cetera so um so did you mention raw feeding um so it was when did I start this live seven o'clock so um profit get he's raw fed and so I do feed I train with his raw food and this is how I do it I have a big bowl with his I do breakfast lunch and dinner and then I have three to four smaller ones depending on what I'm working on and I put a little Spoonful in each one and I just juggle the bowls as I'm training

and I mix that up with some treats in here so if I need to remove a bowl it's really good if I had somebody that can help me with a train and feed but most of the time I'm doing it on my own so I can get a cookie keep the puppy busy while I take you have to be able to work both hands people feed the puppy with one cookie and then get another one uh can I ask why you decided to stop reading I actually didn't decide to stop reading but I did decide to stop um I was thinking I was going to be breeding momentum this year and then um and then this you know I got the download from head office that I meant to take this puppy in Germany and so once I saw the amazing job that shout out to Max and Ramona once I saw the amazing job they did I said why would I ever breed dogs again it's a lot of work and um I'm not as young as I used to be and it's a lot of work for my everybody that works here at the at the at the house so I couldn't ask for a better puppy so I don't know that I will breed dogs again now um so you're the first person who I don't know who asked that question but you are the first person that's ever asked me that um I'm actually going to sell all my whelping stuff because I'm over the moon in love with this puppy and I know there are other great breeders like um Max and Ramon out there Ramona sorry Ramona uh will the information about donating to stop puppy meals be posted on your main website yes so we the team's been working at putting all of this together um we we are also working at creating a charity of our own but that's way in the future so for now we are promoting as many of these non-profits that are doing a terrific job as we can but we have to you know do some vetting on them see if they fit culturally with us and um so far there's two and we're excited to be part of this but what do you start with when your puppy comes from a top rated breeder but they don't start any training before the puppy comes to you at 12 weeks small dog mini taxi great question Jane um I would start with exactly what I'm doing with profit you know um it's it's really about building that puppy's confidence I have in my journal at the and I and don't don't don't beat me up because I tell everyone they should journal and mine's really primitive I haven't done but the very back section is something that my fitness maybe it's the second to last you know Cooperative care he started as Cooperative care he's so cute um the very back section I don't have a dog-eared is behavior so anything or no that's you know what it's the first section sorry the anything that I see like him going up to people and then just kind of

pausing and backing up a bit so that gets put in my behavior section and um and my pant Fighting episode put in there too just so that I can stay on top of those things so confidence building looking for emotional Behavior means anything that is emotionally out of range that's what I mean by Behavior okay um so it's amazing if you just focus on building thanks Kimberly but if you just focus on building psychological safety for that puppy showing them a lot of enrichment engagement I introduced him to his first Nina odelton uh food puzzle today I just love the first time when you help them uh discover all of that um so um yeah it it's it's a their little brains can absorb so much and but don't expect like profit is an amazing puppy who has been with uh students of mine who are amazing dog trainers and they gave him a great two weeks and and then he's now with another pretty darn good dog trainer so please don't have expectations of like I I it's almost like a double-edged sword I want you to expect more from your puppies if you show them engagement and love and support and enrichment you will be Blown Away about how fast they can learn but I don't want you to compare and expect that you should be here because it's also going to depend upon a the puppy and be the experience that you have training this way but I'm glad you're here I saw a couple of you that said that you you you're um new to this or you just jumped on and I'm so happy to have you in our community the very first really uh fruits and Four Paws um I'm from British to live in China I've been following the amazing training for years finally on when you're live puppy mills are are 100 accepted here and tragically no one is the only way to breed I saw that when I was in Japan um I was teaching in Japan and they wanted to give us a tour of these they were puppy mills it was outside chain link row I'm not even going to tell you because you're going to get I don't want to trigger anybody and my late husband John said we have to leave and um I said you know these are only tourist stop for the week he said we're not buying anything at any tourist station here we're not giving them any money we are leaving um do puppies get any additional supplements um they get herbs they get um homemade coconut yogurt they get uh Omega-3 different sources of it so yeah they do and and if you're wondering how to Raw feed your puppies uh I know somebody on my team will put Dr Laurie codgers contact information uh Healthy dog Expo and um and if you oh it swaggers spiders uh hold on um I'd say pretty darn great Doctrine thanks Bob uh well prophet will profit like blonde like Swagger like blondes oh

yeah that's a good question Swagger shirt I love it loves his blondes I think it started with golden retrievers and it's all Angie mckelvey's fault and then it went to people um this is another controversial question because puppies really shouldn't have bones if you ask any Dental veterinarian dentist because their little teeth can break off having said that I want them to get ground bones for the calcium and so we do get them ground bones and he's got a piece of you know those um I love those textured Woods they're pieces of wood that are are are purposely meant for dogs they don't Splinter so he's got a little small one of those um the name of the expert is Dr Laurie codger um and uh and I would and contact Lori and she's she she actually balances my dog's meals uh as well um and oh what's Dr Susan Dixon if you're questioning whether you what food when I go to the U.S and I'm looking for raw food I go to Dr Susan thickson's website you make her a nice happy big donation don't you skimp on that the woman knocks herself out to put together a list of the best dog foods to feed doesn't matter if you feed raw you feed freeze dried you feed kibble you Dr thickson's place to go to get that um the get the list okay I'm gonna sign off guys this has been great and um like uh thank you for joining me here on National puppy mill awareness day it's such a sad thing that we have to be aware of but wouldn't it be great if one day we didn't need to be aware of it and Swagger says goodbye as well he says his regards
