Should Dog Trainers be Defined by Their TOOLS?

Here's the thing about those of us who train dogs professionally, inherently, we will be defined by the philosophies we hold or sometimes by the tools that we use. But that doesn't tell the whole story. That doesn't tell all the layers of what we do and how we do it and when we choose to do it. And for the sake of the video, I had to group trainers into those who choose to use an electric collar as a tool in their training and those of us who choose not to use an electric collar in the way we train dogs. That doesn't mean that I don't believe people who choose to use an electric collar don't use reinforcement. I mean, that's crazy. The use of an electric collar, you can't be reinforcing as well. But we have to be able to refer to people in a way that I can move on with the video because the true descriptor of every dog trainer would be paragraphs and paragraphs long. Right. So the question is, like, why is it? It seems to be offensive that I called a group of trainers e-caller trainers. I often get called a clicker trainer because I shape behaviors and I use a clicker, even though if you add up all the hours in a week that I train dogs, it would be way less than 5% of the time I'm using a clicker. But I don't find it at all offensive that somebody refers to me as a clicker trainer because it helps you differentiate me as a trainer who shapes behavior in my training. I'm 100% on board with that. So if you find me using the term e-caller trainer as being offensive, then is it because inherently the idea of an e-caller could be offensive? I'm just asking.
