오늘은 로키에 대해 이야기하고 싶습니다. 로키가 떠난 후 제가 만드는 첫 번째 영상이네요. 이제 10일에서 12일 정도 지났는데 정말 힘들지만, 꼭 이야기해야겠어요. 왜냐하면 여러분 모두 불행히도 같은 운명을 마주하게 될 테니까요. 언젠가는 반려견을 떠나보내야 한다는 거죠. 사랑하는 반려견, 가장 친한 친구, 함께 훈련하고 모든 시간을 보낸 반려견 말입니다. 어쩌면 배우자나 아이들과 보내는 시간보다 반려견과 더 많은 시간을 보냈을지도 모르죠. 그런 일이 일어나니까요. 반려견들은 여러분이 필요합니다. 혼자서는 살아갈 수 없죠. 먹이를 주고 운동을 시키고 생존에 필요한 모든 것을 해줘야 하니까요. 그리고 우리가 그동안 해온 훈련을 통해, 프로그램에 참여하시는 분들은 어떤 종류의 유대감을 만들 수 있는지 잘 아실 겁니다. 반려견에게 많은 것을 가르쳐서 반려견이 여러분과 완전히, 말 그대로 일치되고 호흡을 맞추게 되는 것이죠. 그것은 정말 매우 특별한 유대감입니다. 수년간 저를 지켜봐 온 사람들은 제가 열정을 가지고 동기화, 반려견이 여러분과 보조를 맞추고, 반려견이 정말 즐거워하는 것, 여러분이 관리하고 제어할 수 있는 그 원동력을 이야기할 때 항상 로키를 언급했다는 걸 압니다. 로키는 제가 떠나보낸 세 번째 반려견입니다. 이미 두 마리의 경찰견을 강아지 시절부터 마지막까지 함께했고, 이번이 함께 현장에서 일하고 훈련하며 영상을 찍어 전 세계 사람들에게 우리가 하는 모든 훈련과 활동으로 영감을 주었던 세 번째 반려견이네요. 네, 불행히도 이런 일들은 영원하지 않죠. 그래서 음, 정말 힘듭니다. 이곳은 항상 로키와 함께 있었던 장소 중 하나니까요. 이곳은 로키가 자란 곳이고 매일 산책하던 곳입니다. 그래서 이 숲으로 다시 와서 로키가 없는 상태로 여기 있다는 게 정말 이상하고 낯설게 느껴지네요. 거의 비현실적이죠. 왜냐하면 이게 매일 하는 일이라 너무나 익숙하고, 무의식적으로 가끔 '아, 만약 내 반려견에게 무슨 일이 생긴다면 어떻게 될까, 어떻게 나에게 영향을 줄까' 하고 생각하기도 하지만, 예전에 반려견을 떠나보낸 적이 있음에도 불구하고 이런 일에 대해서는 결코 대비가 되지 않아요. 막상 반려견이 더 이상 곁에 없게 되었을 때 어떤 기분일지 상상조차 할 수 없죠. 하지만 우리는 이 이야기를 해야 해요. 그래야 이런 슬픔 때문에 당신이 하고 싶은 모든 일을 포기하지 않게 되니까요. 록키를 알지 못해서 그저 아무 일 없이 행복하게 지내는 것과 지금 겪고 있는 이 슬픔을 바꾸고 싶지는 않아요. 하지만 이게 삶의 순리예요. 반려견을 키우다 보면 대부분의 경우
so today i want to talk about rocky it's the first video i'm making after he passed it's been like 10 12 days now and it's it's really tough but i need to talk about it because all of you are facing the same faith unfortunately which is at some point you're going to lose your dog your beloved dog your best friend your dog you've been training with you spent all your time with maybe even more time with the dog than with your spouse and kids because that's what happens is these dogs need you they can't survive on their own like they need you all the time to feed and to exercise them to do all the things to stay alive and and you know through the training that we've done and to the people that are on the program they know what kind of connection you can create by teaching these dogs so many things that they become completely literally synced in tune with you and that just is a very very special bond people that have followed me along the years they know when i talk with passion about the synchronicity the dog aligning with you the dog having so much fun you know that drive that you can manage it you can control that power i was always referring to rocky and rocky is the third dog that i lost like i had two police dogs already from puppy till the very end and this is the third one that i went to service with that i've trained that i've made videos with that people know all around the world that we inspire them with all our exercises and stuff and uh and yeah unfortunately these things don't last and um it's very tough you know because this is one of the spots that i always used to be with rocky here's here's uh where he was brought up he went on his walks on the daily here so coming here in this in this forest and uh and not having him having it with me is very strange it's weird it feels almost surreal because you know this is so familiar that you do this every day and subconsciously sometimes you think oh if ever something would happen to my dog what's it's gonna how that's gonna affect me for example but you're never really prepared for this kind of stuff even though i've lost dogs before yeah you never imagine you know what it's gonna be like once they're not here anymore and yeah we need to talk about this because it shouldn't keep you from doing all the things you want to do you know i wouldn't trade the grief that i have now for not knowing rocky and then just being all happy but that's just the way it is it's a circle of life if you have a dog most of the time you're going to

반려견보다 더 오래 살게 되니까요. 그래서 그동안 무엇을 해야 할지, 어떻게 알찬 시간을 보내야 할지를 강조하는 것도 중요하다고 생각해요. 반려견이 무지개다리를 건너면 많은 사람들이 죄책감을 느끼곤 하죠. 함께 충분한 시간을 보내지 못했거나, 너무 바빠서 반려견이 혼자 시간을 보내게 했다고 생각하기 때문이에요. 하지만 정말 중요한 것은 반려견과 함께하는 그 시간, 그 시간을 100퍼센트 알차게 보내는 거예요. 함께 훈련하는 것, 그것이 반려견과 함께하는 삶의 하이라이트죠. 그럴 때 기억하게 되잖아요. '아, 그때 얘가 이걸 했었지' 하고요. 당신은 강아지가 이 훈련을 이해하지 못하다가 결국 해내고, 한 단계 더 성장했던 모습을 기억하게 될 거예요. 바로 그것이 여러분이 하는 일입니다. 서로를 더 나은 존재로 만들어 주는 것, 기술을 연마하고 목적을 만들어 줌으로써 반려견을 성장시키는 것, 당신 없이는 할 수 없었던 모든 일을 강아지가 할 수 있게 해주는 것이죠. 반대로 반려견 또한 당신에게 성장과 훌륭한 트레이너가 되는 법, 기술을 향상시키는 법에 대해 매일매일 당신 자신의 기술을 개발하는 법에 대해 많은 것을 가르쳐 주고, 그것이 당신을 더 나은 사람, 더 나은 트레이너로 만들어 줍니다. 제 경우에는 더 나은 코치가 되었죠. 그래서 슬픔이 더 크게 다가오는 것 같아요. 이제 앞으로 나아가야 한다는 걸 아니까요. 오늘이나 내일쯤 로키의 마지막 강아지들이 태어날 거라는 소식이 있어요. 물론 로키가 그렇게 갑자기 떠날 줄은 몰랐지만, 두 달쯤 전에 암컷 한 마리와 교배를 했었거든요. 그래서 강아지 몇 마리가 태어날 거예요. 많은 수는 아니지만요. 그 강아지들을 보면서 로키의 얼굴을 다시 볼 수 있지 않을까 하는 기대감이 있어요. 저희를 팔로우해 오신 분들은 강아지들이 어떻게 생겼는지 보셨을 거예요. 정말 로키와 꼭 닮았죠. 그 특징들을 다시 볼 수 있다는 건 정말 특별한 일이에요. 반려견을 떠올리게 되고, 제가 과거의 반려견들과 함께했던 모든 것들을 다시 경험하고 재현할 수 있게 되니까요. 그 아이들은 제가 다른 반려견과도 그렇게 할 수 있도록 영감을 주었죠. 지금 이 시점에서 로키가 해야 할 일은, 로키는 정말 큰 영감을 주었어요. 수천 개의 댓글을 남겨주시고 로키의 추모 영상을 공유해 주신 모든 분께 감사드립니다. 이제 우리가 세상에 계속해서 영감을 주는 것은 우리의 의무라고 생각합니다. 로키처럼 훈련하고, 로키처럼 훈련받으며, 우리와 같은 유대감을 가질 수 있도록요. 그것은 제가 모든 분께 바라는, 세상에서 가장 멋진 일이기 때문입니다. 감사합니다.
survive your dog so uh but in the meantime i think it's also important to highlight what you should do with that time to have that quality time you know a lot of people feel guilt when their dog passes because they either didn't spend enough time with them or they were just like too busy and dog was was doing his own thing i think what truly matters is when you do spend that time with your dog that that time you spend is a hundred percent like quality time you train together that's the highlights of your life with the dog that's when you remember oh remember he did this and he and you know he didn't understand this exercise and then he caught it and then he just elevated himself and that's what you guys do is you elevate each other you elevate your dog by developing skill by creating purpose by letting me do all the things he could not have done without you and vice versa is this dog is teaching you so much about development about being a good trainer about uh enhancing your techniques about developing your own skill on and on every day and that makes you a better person a better trainer a better coach in my case and then that's why the the grief is so big because you know you have to move on and i do have some news that uh either today or tomorrow we will have the last litter of rocky uh which was unexpected of course that he was gonna pass away but we did have a female uh that was mating with rocky like two months back and uh yeah we're gonna have a few puppies it's not gonna be a big litter but you know i have uh you know hopes up that i can you know see his face again in in those puppies you know people that have followed us have seen how the puppies look like and the very strong lookalikes of of rocky and it just you know it's really special if you could see those features back and you you get reminded of your dog and then you can relive and redo all the things that i've done with my past dogs they've inspired me to do it with another dog and now at this point what rocky needs to do is he's been such a great inspiration thank you all for commenting thousands of people and sharing his video of his memoriam and i think it's our duty now to to make sure that we can keep inspiring the world to train dogs like rocky train like rocky and have a connection like us and it's something that i wish upon everyone because it's the most amazing thing in the world thank you
